What are the best cities to live in in Canada?

My husband and I are thinking of maybe moving there but we don't have family or anyone in the area, so I'm looking for something to get us and our research started. Doesn't have to be a big city, either. And I'm from Cali, so the warmer the better.

And if it can be close to the U.S border, so much better. Anyone have a few names they can toss out?
Additional Details
Would just like to add that I'm still going to school here but I am under the impression that anything I study in Canada won't be valid here in the U.S, which is why I wanted to be near the border and just commute a few days a week. Are there any universities in Canada I can attend without this problem?

British Columbia because it is the warmest province in Canada as it is located on the west coast and the warm Pacific air is trapped by the Rocky Mountains.

Good Luck :)

Vancouver has the mildest winter climate in Canada. A few snow days a year but not hard biting cold months. JOb market is good and with ocean, mountains it is one of the most livable cities in the world. An hour north from the Washington state border. You basically need to line up a job and get a work visa before moving here / you can find details on work visas and immigration at http://www.cic.gc.ca

for jobs

Halifax has it all: universities for research, connections to the rest of Canada, the US and Europe, and the weather isn't as bad as you might think.

Try Calgary, Alberta or a city in the surrounding area.

Know-it-all
Toronto is the centre of the universe. Vancouver, Halifax are just wannabes to tell you the truth. Toronto has a number of universities that are recognized internationally. Toronto is ethnically diverse and cosmopolitan.
