Depending on what you enjoy to do, your expectations, your line of work, etc., it could vary. I'd love to recommend my hometown of Thunder Bay, but it really does depend on many factors.

For example, if you're looking to one extreme (big city life) you may want to go with Toronto, or maybe Ottawa. They're both great cities, with plenty of activities, shopping opportunities, etc.

If you want the complete opposite, quiet, slow-paced, outdoorsy sort of thing, then a city like Thunder Bay would be ideal. The city is a prime area for hiking, camping, swimming, kayaking, etc. There are areas which are both rural and urban yet only about a half hour drive from each other, give or take. So to me, it's the best of both worlds :)

There are a lot of quiet, somewhat rural areas in southern Ontario, though, as well, which are a lot closer to the bigger cities. That may actually be more to some people's liking, because they can have their peace and quiet, but drive an hour maybe hour and a half, and go shopping in Toronto, for example. Hope I helped! :)

Cornwall, it is a nice quiet safe city

If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet city, conducive to family and outdoor life, then go to Barrie, Ottawa or Kingston.

If you prefer a metropolis, then go to Toronto.
