I have to respect a country that minds it's own business, the US seems to think it's the world's police / big brother / hero, and we have made a lot of enemies. I think of Canada and Switzerland as neutral. For some reason I tend to think of Canadians as more intellectual than americans, although I don't know any, and I don't know why. |

Canada is in North America just like the US. We are your neighbours to the North. We are no different than the Americans. A lot of people have been bashing the Canadians not because they know but because they don't. It's always the stupid Canadians this or that. I don't get it. Just remember that both countries are side by side fighting for someone else's freedom at this very moment. The least we can do is be civil to one another. |

I used to think they were boring people and like Robin Williams said "the loft apartment over a really great party" but then I realized that being discriminatory is useless and hateful. I consider them people like anyone else and screw what country any of us are from. People are people...Canadians included lol. |

As a Canadian I have to look at the preconceptions that I have dealt with from Americans. We not not all live in igloos, there is not snow during the entire year (we do get some snow but the first time I've seen it since March was on Tuesday).... I could go on forever...
We are a great nation, we have wonderful rights and freedoms, we are culturally diverse (mosaic vs the American melting pot). I love Canada and have no desire to move to another country. |

I'm a Canadian and I've lived here since I was 3 years old. I gotta say, all these years I've never faced racism. My school is very diverse we got basically every race. Just look at the friends I hang out with: 1 Greek, 2 french, 3 black and 2 white kids and a few Arabic and east Indian kids. Canadians are nice to new immigrants, instead of treating them like crap like some countries do. Even if I'm in a small town which isn't as diverse as a city, they will still talk with me and joke around. Some countries are not like that, people just give you weird looks. Canadians are a nice group of people to be around, and they're very layed back. |

I think Americans regard Canadians irreverently (if they think about their neighbors to the north at all). What most Americans don't understand is that many Canadians resent the heavily-handed influence of the U.S.
For example, DHS has practically taken over the security operations of many terminals inside Canadian airports. Imagine the uproar in Congress, if Chinese customs and immigration agents suddenly took over half of LAX!
Because American policymakers are under the impression that the place is still a British colony or something, Canadians are not consulted about military programs that directly affect their sovereignty and national security (like American warships entering their waters without permission).
American environmental policies also continue to irk Canadians. Rather than clean up our own act, we've continued to pollute their vast, empty stretches of land (quite literally in some cases -- with parts of rural Canada being bought up by U.S. cities and used as a dumping ground for our trash).
Having said that...not all Canadian criticism of the U.S. is fair, of course. Attacks against American racism, for instance, are highly hypocritical...given Canada's own dismal record on the issue (First Nations people were only given the right to vote in 1960, the Chinese in 1947). Likewise, Canadian hissy fits over "imperialist U.S. globalization" are amusing. The fact is their economy directly benefits from the inequality between the West and developing world.
But for Americans, we need a better understanding of whom we're dealing with. The tired stereotypes about beavers, friendly farmers, and mounties...cannot continue to serve as the basis for this important bilateral relationship. |

Well I personally think, after meeting you, that they are all gay lords.Im joking course. I think a lot of people see Canada as impartial and while hat is good it can also be bad because it is often overlooked. But generally Canadians are awesome people, and you are a perfect example my friend! |

I've met a few Canadians in my day. Ignorant bunch they are. They kept jabbering at me, saying things like 'TOOK' and 'DABERNAK' or some such. They did have luxurious mullets though. It's certainly not my cup of tea, but it's like a pair of moose mating. You come to appreciate the savageness of it.
I wouldn't really consider a Canadian human, per se. Maybe somewhere around the cultural capacity of a Neanderthal. I mean that game where the throw big rocks down the ice and yell and shout while they slide? Crazy. You wouldn't see that in the modern world. I could imagine a bunch of overgrown chimps doing the same thing in Prehistoric Europe.
Generally speaking I'd say they're a pretty calm breed. I mean, not when you set hounds loose on them. That's always been a treat that I remember since I was a young lad. We'd go on vacation to Minnesota and my father would take me to the annual Canadian cull. I think I still have my Doug-skin hat somewhere in the closet. I'll wear it with pride, my humble, slow-witted, not-quite human, brothers from the North! |
