I have been all over Canada by train and for me the prettiest places besides Niagara Falls are the Canadian Rockies and town/places like Jasper, Banff, and Lake Louise. We just spend 4 days in the Canadian Rockies this past April and it was (((((COLD)))))), like zero degrees Celcius and there was snow on the ground, as well as on the mountains. Its very beautiful there about this time of year it will be cold and snowy. If it was Zero in April you can imagine what the temperature will be in Nov/Dec. |

December is cold near Niagara Falls. It would be a few degrees below freezing. However, the Falls are beautiful in winter.
Like any big city, Toronto has a lot to offer in the weeks before Christmas. Window Christmas displays at the Hudson Bay store (Queen Street and Yonge Street) are pretty. Skating across the street at city hall is popular.
Toronto is about 90 minutes from Niagara Falls. It may be worth staying at the Holiday Inn on King in Toronto and taking a day trip to Niagara. From the U.S., it can be cheaper to fly into Buffalo than Toronto, so you could actually see the Falls on your way to/from the airport. |

Montreal!
US and Canadian shooting their movies in here. Old Montreal is beautifull any times of the year. We have festivals all sumer long. Olympic Stadium has the tallest inclined tower in the world and close to it is the Biodome, the Botanical Garden, the Insectarium and the largest underground city in the world as well as the safest subway. |

Depends on where you want to go to. "Short trips" are amost impossible in Canada! I have been all over this country and, assuming you want to go when it's not cold, here are some good summer spots to visit:
Tofino, Vancouver Island, BC
(any drive through the rockies is beautiful)
Lake Louise, AB
Quebec City, QC
Algonquin Park, ON
drive around Cape Breton Isl, NS
Canada has alot to offer. In the winter yes it will be cold, but it will also be beautiful. Enjoy the country and make the most of it, even if you do decide to go in December! |

What exactly is it that you want to see? How long are you staying? Where are you coming from?
Canada is a really big country with lots to see. Niagara Falls is gorgeous. If you have a car, it's about an hour and a half drive to Toronto from there.
Today it is cold. We just got hit with the first snow of the season. But, I don't know what you would consider too cold for vacationing. If you're from the northern states, it doesn't get any colder here then it does there for you.
If you're going mainly to see the falls though, I would go during the summer. I find that it's much pretty then. |

Toronto of course. We have so much to see. You can go the the CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame, Go the the Theatre and see "We will Rock You, Dirty Dancing, Toronto Symphony and many other venues. Shopping is great. We have the Eaton Centre and many great malls surrounding the GTA. Try Vaughan Mills!
Not too cold at all. We have a little snow right now but the weather forcoast shows it will be 7 by next week. |
