What area gets the most sun in Canada?

I am moving to Canada form California (Alberta or B.C.), what area gets the most sun? I just do not like places that are dark and cloudy all the time and have eternal rain so am trying to avoid that. I do like the mountains and have a job where as long as I have an internet connection I am okay.

Thanks for your help :-).

I would suggest either the prairies or the area of the Golden Horseshoe - St. Catharines to Toronto. The weather is fairly good in those areas. Avoid both coasts if you do not want rain and fog. Choose inland and you should be ok. If you want to be in the area of the Rockies, I think the east side of the mountains will get less rain. Best of luck with your plans.

Well, stay away from the BC coast then. Consider Alberta or the interior of BC, places such as Kelowna, Kamloops, Osoyoos which are all in the Okanagan area, it grows a lot of fruit and grapes for wine, and Osoyoos is actually in a genuine desert as far as precipitation goes. Cool winters, hot summers in the Okanagan, not a lot of stuff falling from the sky in either season. Hard to get away from mountains anywhere in BC, and they're easily accessible and visible from western Alberta.

Statistically Estevan, SK gets the most sunshine every year ( average 2,540 hr/yr). But if you're meaning which area gets the best weather (not too cold or hot) it's Calgary.

Depends what kind of sun. If you go back east you'll get sun and -30 weather...! I'm trying to find the statistics Canada page where they list the cities in Canada in order by various climate factors. I'm reasonably sure that Victoria is near the top. Vancouver is lovely but the rain might KILL you. It doesn't bother me at all. :) If I find it, I'll post the link for you!
