What do Americans really think of Canada and Canadians?

In general, I do not distinguish celebrities as "American" or "Canadian", etc. I enjoy when both national anthems are part of a sporting event and when athletes from both countries appear in the olympics.

In my limited travels, I have visited NYC and Toronto. Toronto's people were much more friendly, city is clean and offers international cuisine and incredible night life. I would take Toronto over NYC without hesitation.

I don't know how our health care program compares with that of Canada, because ours supports so many on welfare and who are not legal citizens and gainfully employed here; it appears skewed by comparison.

General consensus is most people here do not consider what goes on in other countries, or outside their own "comfort zone" so it's difficult to answer the last portion of your question.

In general good, they are good folk. Never met a Canadian I did not like. They seem laid back and like to have fun. Been to Canada its a nice country. Live in the US myself.

NO...WE HAVE NO IDEA WHO IS FROM CANADA AND WHO ISN'T
Is there jealousy because we are so similiar but without the violence and with a brilliant health care program?
NO JEALOUSY. WE SEE YOU AS THE SAME AS US BUT QUIETER AND LESS VIOLENT. OUR POLITICINAS TELL US YOUR HEALTH PLAN IS A FAILURE.

I happen to love Canada. Food is better, cities are cleaner. I would not brag about the health care, I have heard horror stories from people I know that live all over the country. No resentment. I am in Canada about ever 6 weeks. I need to do some shopping soon, so I will be there shortly.

It seems that YOU have a lot of resentment towards Americans, asking such a loaded question.

Americans and Canadians are equal, no one person is better than the other. state,province,town and city they are all equal. that's what i think.

Curmudgeon is right. Most of us don't know, out of all the celebrities, who is American and who is Canadian - we seriously don't pay that much attention, despite what our media must make you think. We do think you are very nice neighbors to have, and that's about it.

I don't think there's any resentment at all in general...sure some people might, but given my best friend is American and most of my friends are American, I think they don't particularly resent us per se or think of us in any of the ways you're describing. There's bigger things in the world to be concerned about.

I don't think Americans care whether exsists or not. They care if Canada pulls along side of them in a war or backs them up in certain situations. There could be some jealous moments with the health care seeing that a lot of U.S. seniors travel across the boarder and get their medications cheaper in Canada than in the USA. Well, lets take a look at Michael J. Fox, William Shatner just to name two. Have they come a long way since their beginnings!!

I am an American that happens to like your country. I always enjoyed myself on trips up there and your country has the most beautiful wilderness in the world.

My wife and I will be going on hiking vacations in the Yukon and BC. We plan on doing two weeks per year in your vast wilderness.

I like Canada but I do not like your pansy libs. Just like I do not like American pansy libs. It has nothing to do with Canada but more to do with politics.
