"mark j" if you are going to try and make fun of us you could learn how to spell first..... "eh"
and i dont understand the "help them in wars" thing?? im pretty sure it was not our leader who said "if your not with us your against us" just so you know, most Canadians dont like war-- at least not a "war" if there was a need for it, Canada would be happy to help but having our soldiers come home in a box for a pretend war is sickening.
and to the soldiers out there, dont take offence i support you 100% i just dont agree with the war cause no one has ever told me what it is really helping and i hate listening for names on the radio to see if it is someone i know....
this spun off of topic but it really bugs me when people have stupid answers. |

Mabe you saw my answer to your prev. question... I basically think Canada is awesome. In terms of Canadians I find them to be friendly overall. There are of course exceptions. I have spent a lot of time in Toronto and have met some really shallow, materialistic and bitchy girls there (for some reason a lot of them were from Indian families). Canadian guys (like my hubby) are hot!
Canadians seem to be more global in their thinking and are much more knowledgable about issues not just in Canada, but in other countries as well. I find Americans generally are not tuned into current events other than what Paris Hilton wore when she was released from prison. |

I love Canada. Better food, better health care, cleaner cities, less traffic - even during rush hour. People are always friendly. I also don't expect everything to be like in the US. I know better. |

As a Canadian, maybe it's inappropriate for me to answer... but my take on it is that Americans are in general, pretty ignorant about Canada. We get comments like good health care, cheap drugs, good hunting/fishing there, cold/lots of snow, and we say eh alot.
There are some that feel we don't do our part as an allie in world affairs. I think it's purely out of ignorance to come up with that one. Canada went to Iraq the 1st time and the Americans bombed us... bet most Americans didn't know that! Then Canada goes to Afghanistan and the Americans all but pull out to go back to Iraq leaving everyone else to mop up. Canada has 1/10th the population of the US so it's only logical we can't cover what the US can. P.S. Canada is still in Afghanistan.
Then there was the whole BSE (mad cow disease) closing the border to Canadian beef was one thing, but then fighting to keep it closed when American cattle producers realised bigger profits and Canadian producers were nearly devistated was purley out of greed, not health and safety.
Or the quickness to blame Canada for the 2003 eastern power outtage. There was no logic to it, yet it made sense that Canada must be a sub-standard environment so surely it happened there when in fact it was later proven to have originated in Ohio.
So, in a nutshell, I feel there are many Americans offering opinions on Canada based upon facts they are ignorant of.
Hopefully the word ignorant hasn't been taken offensively, it seems to have a more negative stigma to it as of late, and nothing negative is meant by it all. |

I actually like the place - I have been in Vancouver absoultely stunning place, I thought of moviing there...but then the rain changed my mind, I have been to Montreal great place to visit but I would not want to live there the shopping is wonderful and I would go broke. Ontario - beautiful city.
I see Canada as I see any other place in the world including cities in the US, great places to visit, with both nice people and mean ones. I am just used to my home town and would not want to move. I agree with the Canadians on thier feelings of our current government, and I wish we had access to the drugs - tylenol with codine over the counter (great) and health care system.
But I have to admit I love being an US citizen and I would never change that, because its just what I know.
Good Luck |

im canadian born, eh. i moved down here right before i turned four, and (up until last year) i tried to get up there once a year. i love it, canadians are much more hospitable as a whole. they are also bright enough to get universal health care for their citizens. |

From my experience, being English, they see Canada as an extension of their territory - much the same as they do the UK |

PROS: friendly, cares alot about enviorment, beautiful parks and sites, cares a lot about their citizens by offering free medical care
BUT, if you want to have allies and have people defend your country, you might want to help them in wars. Its confusing to know where canada stands among the other countries, you cant be friends with everybody or that will lead to even more conflicts. |
