JudyC - you are right on! Far too many people launch into nationalistic lashings without even considering how much of an impact the US election will have on the remainder of the world!
As for the question itself, as a Canadian, I like Obama and I hope he wins the election. I also hope that, were he to win, trade relations between our two countries will continue to be as good and productive as they generally have been.
For the rest of you, please reconsider your "what do Canadians have to do with this" or "Canadians can't vote..." replies. While it is true that non Americans cannot vote in your election, the outcome will have a global effect and so the question is a valid one. So, please put your flags away for the time being and relax a bit. |

I can't believe the hostile answers you are getting!!!! People are such hypocrites...
Canada relies so heavily on the US for trading - that means Canadian jobs - Canada follows suit on many US policies - that means fighting unnecessary wars or potential recession.
Even if Canadians cannot vote, we can still have an opinion - and Canadians as you might know are quite opinionated. The next presidential choice in the US is very important to Canadian economy and its politics.
I happen to like Obama and I know several others that do as well. I personally hope he does win the election - it will help both the US and Canada. |

"Hi" personally I like Mr. Obama, he seems rather well suited and certainly capable for this post , namely managing the best interests of one of the more powerful countries in the world !
It's fortunate that Mr.Obama is on the slate as while I have the utmost respect for Mr. McCain also ,I realize that he has served the U.S valiantly for many many decades but the fact remains that he is on in years .
This would be a demanding job , make no mistake about it ,and should he expire then his vice-president would step in ! I don't really know too much about her and neither does the rest of the world ,however from what I've been able to glean so far it would appear that she is not in the same league as the two nominee's for president ,and that scares me.
So for me it's Mr.Obama and Mr. Biden and I think the world would like to see the U.S.A , especially in these difficult global times , get past some of it's attitudes towards colour and elect a very capable and talented American with his origins ! *S* (Michael C) |

He's a candidate in a foreign election.
Edit: people might wish to look up American comments on the recent Canadian elections and think long and hard about the erudite comments there..... |

Actually Obama scares me a bit. While the socialists say he's not one of them, he does have a lot of socialist ideals.
Watching some people at his rallies that swoon and seem to think he's a god of some sort is scary. He's a person, a politician for that matter but he seems to have a weird effect on people.
There are over 120,000 people employed by the coal industry and Obama wants to fine the industry for emissions - that will bankrupt them all. All industries that emit greenhouse gases will be fined.

There are things like that which I think the US needs to think about before they vote. Not all is good in the Obama camp. Not that McCain is perfect, they both have their problems.
