it is supposed to be passport only, but with backlog the may have eased it and allow birth certificate. check with state dept on regulations to be safe.

For you a drivers licence and for her photo ID and parental permission letter

Here is a good link for you:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/apply-who.asp

If you are coming from USA, no visa is needed, but the rest - i.e. having a valid passport, convincing an immigration officer that the motive of your visit is lawfull, that you have enough money for the duration of your stay, that you want to go back to your country after your stay - is relevant regardless of which country you're coming from.

If you're visiting from another country than USA, you might need a visa. Check the list of countries that need it from the link or enquire from the Canadian Embassy of Consulate in your country.

That's an answer from an immigration officer, so you can't get a better answer than that.

Good luck with your travel and have fun!

I think all you need are your birth certificates!

It was the States that wanted us to do the passport thing, not Canada, so we aren't all snakey about that. If you have one, bring it along. Driving across the border is more one on one than flying so her birth certificate will do and your BC and driver's license will be sufficient.

HAVE FUN IN CANADA!!!!!

Take her to Marineland. She can maybe kiss a beluga!

now: gov't (state) issued photo Id AND birth certificate OR passport.

starting 2008: passport required for US/Canada travel

although.. we used to get thru on Drivers license alone.. but they have gotten alot more strict over the last couple years.

ID and birth certificates for both of you (for you drivers license works, she may need a state used ID card). She will need permission from your parents in writing. Also, if you are borrowing a car from someone, you may want to get writen permission from them.

I think a passport. It's been a while since I've been to Canada but all they did was check my passport.

you need to bring your passport and a couple of papers of where your going because they are going to ask you a couple of questions before you cross

puppies.sunshine
Both of you need passports. You also need a written permission from both your parents to bring your little sis over the border.
