I live in Niagara Falls, NY and I cross the border often. As of this moment and until June 1st of this year you need Just your license or some type of govt issued photo id if under the age of 18 you should have your school ID with you. You will ALSO need something to prove citizenship of the US like a birth certificate on June 1st you will need a passport or a enhanced drivers license or a passport card, no exceptions come June 1st. |

Assuming you are coming by land, a valid passport OR government issued photo ID and an official birth certificate (original). If you are 18 or younger an official birth certificate is required.
As of June 1, 2009 a valid passport is required for all travel across the border.
These rules apply both ways since you have to be able to return to the US if you are coming into Canada. |

you just need a vild passport to cross the border!
and tips...
they WILL search you car, so dont bring any guns or anything like that! that includes food! and dont try to hide it cause they'll serch the inside of your car and the trunk if they think somthings worng.
if you going to come from the states...bring like...$200.00 and you'll get $280.00 in Canadian cash or the other way around if your going from Canada to the US.
