Depends from what country you coming from. From the US it's easy. Password and a couple of ID's at the border and your in.

Other countries it's harder.

You cannot use a photocopy. I would suggest getting an original one; you need that to get a passport anyways.

Once and for all....the date is JANUARY 23, 2007 for travel by air to the USA to require a passport. By land and sea the passort requirement takes place, so far, on January 1, 2008.

Until then:
American citizens and permanent residents do not require a passport or visa to enter Canada. All you need are travel documents proving identity and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Acceptable documents include photo identification, such as a valid driver's license plus a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, or a green card. If you are travelling with children, you should carry identification for each child under 18 years old.

passport contact the airport and they will help you

If your travelling before Jan 27,07 your drivers license is fine. The whole passport thing is ridiculous. Are you driving or flying?
I live in Canada and husband is a commercial driver who crosses all the time into maine or vermont, and along down the road.
