The overall feeling about Canada I see in the US is indifference. There is nothing really significant that make people feel one way or another about Canada or Canadians.

South Park perpetuates a lot of anti-Canadian stereotypes. I personally don't care what you do but I think that movie Canadian Bacon with John Candy was really funny.

well im canadian as well and i have noticed that not only do they make fun of our country but have NO education on our country. I have come across Americans that didn't know Canada even exsisted, some thought we live in igloos, some thought we ride polar bears everywhere, i met people that thought we were very underveloped like the earlier civilizations. Even the fact that they don't know simple georgraphy on us, things like we do live on the same continent, the fact that we are the second largest country in the world, we have provinces not states etc.... We learn about our neighboors in school, so why can't they learn about us?

but not all Americans are like this of course. We are both generalizing tremendously. There are many Americans that respect us and know a lot about us, so sorry if i offended or generalized too much there. I was going on a bit of a rant.

Hope i helped

I'd live in Canada if it were warmer. I might wind up in Vancouver someday anyway. I like the country, grew up near the border, I think the health care system is wonderful, and it's refreshing to be around people who don't think it's a good idea to invade or bomb other countries, as a rule. CBC News doesn't have a Nancy Grace or a Glenn Beck; just real news. Most of all, though, it's the hot Canadian women and the cute way they say "about".

who cares what they think? do you think americans are that important that you need their approval?

i find some americans are very ignorant when it comes to the world outside its borders

I think Americans think very little of us because we don't have a crazy paparazzi chasing down famous actors and rock stars, trying to get revealing or outrageous pictures and stories. We don't have very many school shootings. We haven't had plane hijackings in the last 25 or 30 years in Canada. We don't threaten to invade or attack countries around the world. And if our country has a recession, the rest of the world doesn't get dragged down with us.

How should we know, eh? Try asking some americans.

I'm American and I live in Canada and am married to a Canadian, and let me tell you, you are one of the few Canadians I know that say they love the US. I believe the reason Americans think very little of Canada is because it really doesn't do a whole lot to get noticed. Whether it be good or bad. When a lot of people think of Americans they get all these crazy ideas and how Americans apparently like to go around and shoot people. Granted America goes to war with people, but at least other countries hear about it.
I like Canada, but then I don't all at the same time. It's mostly just from my personal experiences haven't been the greatest. Before moving to New Brunswick I used to go to Toronto very often. I love Toronto, I love the largeness of it, and I like the variety it has. I guess I'm just a big city girl. I'm used to all the culture and racial diversity of my old city, and this small maritime city lacks it.
Since I've been In NB, I've been told by Immigration that my American passport was a fake and I'm really an illegal Mexican immigrant, funny though because I barely speak Spanish. I can read and write it really well and understand it when spoken to me for the most part, but I'm not even close to being fluent. On top of that, I've had people be very rude to me because I'm not white. I've had people tell me that they hate Mexicans and even Blacks although they never met one other than me.
I've had lots of people be very negative towards me not just because I'm a little darker, but because I am American. I'm well educated and far from being ignorant. I know about many other countries, cultures and religions and was taught at a young age not to judge someone because of race, religion, origin, or sexual preference. I find many people to not be as tolerant as I am here. I know that not all Canadians are like that, and therefore I still like Canada, but I prefer America.
Unlike my husband, my opinion of Canada is based on experience rather than the media. Like all countries, Canada has it's good points and it has it's bad ones. I don't make fun of Canadians as a whole, just my husband.

Most Americans don't really think about Canada.
However, the thing that sticks out like a sore thumb about Canadians is their insecurity.

Always asking questions about what people think about Canada.

The world looks at Canadians and views them as North Americans who are not from the US. I guess this lack of identity adds to the insecurity.

Well doesn't canada kill seals or something?
