What do you guys think of Kelowna BC, Canada?

I was just wondering cuz i loved it there =) its the perfect size, not a tiny hick town but not an overcrowded city either. Like theres mountains lakes vineyards, beaches, warm weather, shopping the houses are all gorgeous, they have all the good stores. I just basically fell in love with that place!! So what do you guys think ??

Hahha was just there yesterday :) I live in Penticton, which I prefer over the busy life style of Kelowna. Both places are just amazing and offer so much to do :).

I think Kelowna has gotten way too busy. It takes forever to get through town to the bridge. The population increase in the last 20 years is unbelievable.
Maybe I'm a little biased, but I prefer Vernon. We have the mountains, 3 lakes ( Okanagan, Kalamalka & Swan) Our ski hill (Silver Star) is only 20 minutes away, not as far as Big White. We have vineyards, golf, same weather. Only complaint is the terrible shopping. That's what I like about Kelowna.

Beautiful place. I prefer Penticton though lol. If it wasn't for irrigation so many years ago, that place would be a desert. The new bridge is pretty sweet too AND they have Lake Okanagan. How cool is that??

My mother-in-law lives there and I've been there many times over the last 7 years. It is a nice place but I agree with one of the other posters that the traffic through town is terrible. It wasn't always that way. Housing has become almost as expensive as Vancouver, and during the summer the city is crawling with tourists. The weather is similar to southern Ontario - cold, snowy winters and hot, humid summers. It's an okay place to go for a weekend, but I wouldn't want to live there.

I owned a home and resided in Kelowna for many years. It is beautiful, and clean. But sadly it is also VERY expensive. %65 of the population there are living on debt. You can't buy a small home for under $500,000. You can't rent a 1 bedroom for under $1200/month nothing included.

Some day soon I would love to move back. But right now the housing market is too unstable.

Not the Fallen
I was just there in the past week plus my grandparents (RIP) and other relatives used to live there. My best friend lives there. Some not so good points:
- it gets pretty cold in the winter and really hot in the summer
- Can get really crowded and touristy in the summer
- it takes a long time to drive across town
- really BAD drivers, I've almost been hit every single time I've been there

Good points:
- Cabanna Grille is one of my fave restaurants (ask for Trevor the bartender or Rachel the waitress). They have a Kelly O'Bryans too which is ok.
- Decent clubs
- really nice scenery
- Lake Okanagan is gorgeous
- good winery tours
- TREE Brewing Rocks!!! which is based in Kelowna
- lots of talented theatre and arts type fests going on there.
- my friends live out there because they say it was easier to find work and housing in comparison to Vancouver (particulaly Coquitlam area)

I was in Kelowna briefly a few weeks ago, it seemed like a pretty quaint place. Very quiet, and beautiful like you said. I especially loved seeing the lake, i believe it was called the Okunagan. But being from California, coming from the warmth, it's a new environment too me. Setting that aside, it was a lovely place.
