I like that no matter where I am from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland, I feel at home. I like that as a nation we are more peace keeper than warrior but when the need arises, we are also great warriors. I like that we work at becoming a Just Society and while we have not reached the pinnacle yet we are closer to it than any country I have ever visited and that covers a good chunk of the world. I like that I can say after 60 plus years, that I have never been a victim of a major crime and that indeed, I do not even know anyone who has. I know they happen but they are not a common occurance. I like that no matter where I have traveled in the world, I have always been warmly welcomed and treated with noticeable respect. I love that Canadians have a great nation wide sense of humour that is unlike anywhere else. I like that we can laugh at ourselves and we do that often. I like all the little parts that make the whole like the blue Canadian Rockies and the golden wheat fields, the majestic maple, especially in the fall and the wild rugged Newfoundland coast. It is a fantastic country! |
