I actually attended Ottawa U. for three years. Academically, it's a solid school. Good undergrad programs for business and engineering. Very well known for their medical school as well.

Residence is decent. I never lived in it, but many friends did. Food on campus is alright, but nothing spectacular. Luckily the university is in the middle of downtown Ottawa, so you're a short walk from a big shopping centre, as well as the main areas for the city's nightlife (Byward market and Elgin street).

The kids are all nice, but the staff definitely needs work on its manners. It's an officially bilingual school, and a lot of the French employees there gave me the impression that they didn't care much for all the English students (which is the majority of the school's population).

Finally, the campus itself is mostly a concrete jungle. But what you give up in beautiful surroundings (like what you'd get at Queen's), you make up for in proximity of services and activities.

In Ottawa, I think it's probably your best choice.

I'm a graduate of U of O. Great and lovely campus. Well situated near downtown and canal skating. Top of the line courses. Great indoor facilities. Excellent University.

It's one of the schools I am applying to for my Masters degree. That and Queen's, York, and University of Windsor (currently there)

Ugh...Canadian stereotypes...real original. Just shows how ignorant Americans can be.

I was at the Universities Fair at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre, and the people at that particular station were very rude, and didn't answer any of my questions...

York on the other hand... they knew their stuff!
