What does Canada think of Australia?

Hi all. Firstly - I want to make it clear that I absolutely love canadian people and that's why I'm coming in about 12 months time for a couple of years on a working holiday visa. But I would really like to know what the attitude of Canadian people have on Australian people - do they like them? I'm really outgoing, love to meet people have conversations, laugh, have lots of fun and cool activities and smile etc etc, but I'm a little nervous as to what people will think because I know they dont really like americans etc ahhhh just really nervous haha lol :P And like what type of guy do girls go for there? I mean I'm about 6'4" and um yeah been working out for heaps for about a year etc so i spose i'm getting there in that way lol but yeah what do they go for?? Any help would be so nice! Thanks!!!

What do Canadians think of Australians ?

Depends on who you ask............

Many younger Australians have made a very bad impression by their rude and drunken behaviour, especially in the west. Those towns where they flock to work, such as Banff and Jasper, are left with a bad taste in their , due to the ski bums reckless actions while drunk in town.

Some are good workers, and dependable, but many are too much into the party life style and they can't be trusted to show up for work sober. Lazy and mouthy, as well.

Not all are like that but the bums are remembered the most by Canadian employers. They ruin it for the good ones.

Be an adult, be trustworthy and be reliable at work, and Canadians will be happy to know you.

The people will be very similar to Australia. I have traveled to Australia and live in Canada, and its fairly the same. But people will love your from Australia and want to hear about your stories...move to the mountains, lots of Aussies work there so you will have friends.
(Your money ticket is Canmore,Alberta or Banff, Alberta at resorts like Lake Louise or Sunshine)

Good luck with everything..I'd like to switch you countries for a while.

I think most of us Idolize Australians, with the cool accents and the cool animals.
Everything seems so exotic!

Hey I lived in Australia and moved to Canada 4 years ago and they absolutely LOVE me here. They're amazed when you say you came from Australia and when you have that nice Australian accent so you have nothing to worry about!

MinLo
From what I hear Australia is a lot like Canada, so no worries!
And Canadians definitely love Aussies. Believe me, you will have no trouble with the ladies if they hear you speaking with your Aussie accent! I'm sure you will have a great time!

Hi :) dont be nervous at all, Canada si an extremely friendly country with polite friendly people. And as for the hating americans thing, a lot of that is beasue of americas hatred towards us, and even with that hatrid towards us, a lot of us still look past that and have nothing bad to say about america. But we definately don't have anything wrong with australia, We think nothign bad of you as far as i know. I think you'll have an easy time making friends and girls would proably like you from what description you gave. And just a heads up, everyone will probably love your australian accent :P lol !
So welcome to Canada and have fun !

We don't judge people by their country of origin. Canada is very multicultural. Australians are known as adventuresome, but there is a stereotype regarding their alcohol consumption. However, I think we look at people on a case-by-case basis, so if you come here with a good attitude and represent your country well, chances are we will really like you. The girls will like your accent. If you are young and outgoing, I think you will have no problems here.
And we don't hate all Americans.....poor Americans, we just don't like their government. To a large degree Americans grow up very brainwashed and ignorant of what's going on around them in the world, hopefully some day that will change. On a case-by-case basis they are people just like you and me. My good old best friend from university 30 years ago is American and she's brilliant.
