Canada is a big place, and how could u describe a large country in a few sentences? The landscapes depend on the province and so do the accents. Whoever said health care is free, sorry to tell you, but you pay for it through your taxes. Canada isn't just like the US. Visiting, one may think so, but living here is a whole different thing. I live in a small city in New Brunswick. From the freeway, there's a lot of land and lots of trees and pretty flowers along the roadside. Down town is nowhere near busy, at least nothing compared to what I'm used to back home. Rush hour, is minimal, and it takes maybe a half hour to get from one end of the city to the other. Where I used to live, you'd be in rush hour traffic for about an hour before you'd get even close to half way through. It's cleaner, but don't forget Canada's total population is only 33 million as opposed to the US's 305 million. Violent crimes are much lower here, but non-violent crimes are actually higher. Although, in my city there have been quite a number of stabbings lately. The whole comment about congress someone left...sorry, but the US has more to their government system than just congress. The US's government was actually based off of French ideas, not Canadian. Americans don't speak with Canadian accents, not even the northern most states. Canadian accents differ by province, just like accents in the US differ by state. The friendliness of people also vary here. Where I live, there are a lot of rude people. I've run into many since I got here. I also know some unintelligent people. Most of the people I know, didn't even get through high school. All my friends back home at least made it through high school or have a GED. Many of my friends are college grads. Most Canadians may be racially tolerant and accepting, but in my city, there are many skin heads and other racist groups. I've seen more here, than in my much larger city back home. The US is also free last I checked. It's only Bush that has made it seem as though we aren't by his stupid ideas and ways. Generalizing a whole country is never a good thing. If you want to know what Canada is like, go and visit. Experience it for yourself, it's better than asking for someone's idea or opinion. Unless these people have lived for a period in the US, they're going to be completely bias and a little misinformed, same with someone who's from the US would describe their country. I can only say what I know from personal experience from living in both countries, one is a big city and one in a very small one. |

No, no, you got it wrong. It's Americans who speak with a Canadian accent and the US congress is a cheap ripoff of our parliamentary system. |

What exactly is Canada? It's a country.
It's big, clean, uncrowded, scenic, friendly, multicultural, low-crime, mainly English speaking, hot in the summer, and good snow in the winter.
Accents vary all across the country and they are all different from American accents. |

A Canadian: Looks and talks American but is unarmed and has health care.
A very large, free, democratic country that inherited the British parliamentary system and has two official languages: French and English. We are the USA's largest trading partner, supply a majority of its imported crude oil and are fiercely independent of both British and American influence. We are bordered by three oceans, the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic. The geography ranges from Arctic tundra, huge prairies, extremely large boreal forests and high, rugged mountains. The climate varies from wet maritime to dry semi desert and everything in between. Temps from -60C in the high Arctic to +38C in semi desert regions. The NW coast is a rainforest while the high Arctic, prairie and interior BC regions are semi desert with rainfalls averaging 5 to 15 inches per year. Central Canada is basically a snow belt in the winter and LOTS of snow falls including the higher elevations in mountainous regions. The people are friendly, easy going and generally tolerant of all cultures. Outdoor recreation is a major activity for both rural and urban inhabitants.
From a sports point of view, hockey is passionately supported by most Canadians.
Many countries believe we are simply an extension of the USA in both language and culture, but this is a huge mistake that most Canadians will vehemently disagree with. |

And now that you have all this secret and confidential information about Canada, we must tell you that if you spread it around we will have to eliminate you. Spreading this around will lead to American's wanting to come in the thousands to escape the upcoming election there - wouldn't you? It is imperative that they continue to think we have nothing of any value to them like our superior beer, are a cold snowy wasteland where there are more polar bears than people and the few people there are live in igloos and chew on blubber and pemican to keep body and soul together. |

*sigh* why must people always say Canadians are the same as americans. Wanna explain it to people? tell them it's a country, A FREE country on it's own. With beautiful landscapes, great cities. FRIENDLY people who's government isn't war mongers. Intellegent educated people with FREE health care. |

What is Canada? It's a country above the U.S., to the left of Greenland, and to the right of Russia and Alaska. |

Canada is a country. And its an awesome one! One of the best in the world. The people are friendly. The air is clean. The streets are peaceful. The landscape is magnificent. The cities are busy and lively. We are war and gun free. And we are the most welcoming people. Whoever you are come on over.
And no we do not speak with a usa accent! THANK GOD! We speak normally. And we are not rude when we talk as well. We speak with polite Canadian accents. |

Canada is a country not at war. Canada makes the best beer in the world. Canada is the home of hockey and field hockey. Canada is a country whose resources are being stolen from them by foreign investors. Canada is an intelligent, strong country. Canada is the home of peace and well being towards anyone of any race or creed. Canada is the friendliest, some times unnessaryily apologizing country on earth.( If you bump into us we'll say sorry, even if we known its not our fault.)Canada is a country were we do say "eh?" but it's like you saying right after a sentence its a word that offers reassurance. Canada is not a country of people talking like they are slow. Canada is a country where people DO NOT say " aboot " we never have and we have no idea where you got that idea from. Canada is somewhere you can live your life free from thinking which media outlet is right, we tell the truth, our friends tell the truth our neighbours tell the truth. Canada is a place where we don't care about who is running the government, whether they be black or white, woman or man,( we already have had a woman prime minister even thought she lasted only 3 months ). Canada is a place where only people who live on the border act like americans. Canada is the world's way of saying, if they don't respect you there, we will here. Canada is a place where we have our favourite animals on our money, yes that list includes the queen. Canada is the most politest, cleanist, animal friendly, religious and race accepting country in the world. Canadians love Canada and don't want it to change one bit.
CANADA is awesome! I AM CANADIAN and proud of it as long as it doesn't hurt your feelings. Yeah we don't hurt people feelings unless they are asking for it even after we will apologiz for saying it. If this doesn't mean Canada then I don't know where I live. |
