I lived in Nunavut for two years. In late May, early June, there is a burst of colour as the many tiny Arctic flowers begin to bloom. Many plants grow in Nunavut such as lichens, moss, berries of different kinds, tundra grass, mushrooms, arctic willow, arctic heather and of course sea weed in the ocean. You can grow some vegetables in a greenhouse in the summer as the sun shines for 24 hours a day in May, June, July and August. People have grown tomatoes, beans, etc. And actually the most common hot drink enjoyed by the people of Nunavut is tea. |

Nothing grows there except for a few weeks in the summer.The ground is frozen solid permanently except for the top inch or two for a couple of weeks in the summer.Most of the area is tundra.

Permafrost (ground that remains frozen year-round) makes Agriculture unfeasible in Nunavut. Most food has to be flown in from southern Canada, making groceries very expensive (maybe 180% of the price in southern Canada).

Having said that, if you want to be original, you could make your hot chocolate using Caribou milk.
Also, Nunavut is a territory, as are Northwest Territories and Yukon. The rest are provinces. |
