Do we not supply most of north-eastern america with their Hydro??? We let them in on the great sports of Hockey, Basketball and Lacrosse.....those are some big contributions, economical and cultural. I would hope they would be influenced by our tolerance, and acceptance of those different, our liberal views, our gun control laws, and love of diversity, but I haven't really seen any evidence of that yet......................... |

Because I am a hockey nut and have many American friends who are the same I would say Hockey is biggest influence. But to knowing and educated Americans we are thought of as a moderating and milder influence.
A number of the influential minds in American mainstream are Canadian. The average Canadian is further left politically than the average American. So we do soften their opinion on many world events. |

Oil and natural gas easily comes to mind as Canada is the U.S.'s biggest supplier of both and in the future fresh water will be our biggest contribution. |

I agree with tomjc43. It's hockey. Up until the late 1970s, the USA was totally obsessed with baseball. Hockey at that time only had eight or 10 teams in the league. But, then the USA really started to notice the game of hockey. Especially when then young Gretzky(sp) started to play for the Oilers. |

Canada is showing USA what is freedom, liberty and democracy.
- When USA was building itself with black slaves, Canada was welcoming them as complete citizens.
- Monopoly of press seen today in the USA is something that could not pass in Canada.
- For the people, by the people. There is a lot more power for the people when authorities have to respond to a good healthcare.
- Democracy : While the United States of America use hackabled voting machines (mainly by Diebold), who were proven to be rigged, it is time to ask ourselves why can´t USA fix its democracy by looking how Canada work... The main difference in Canada is that the elections will never have staff hired by the prime minister... Same should apply to the USA. |
