Poutine, Fish and brewis, pea soup, blueberry grunt, Seal flipper pie (I kid you not), screech. ?
Were you in Canada or on another planet? I am Canadian and the only ones I have heard of are pea soup and screech, which is a local home brewed alcohol in Newfoundland I believe? Pea soup is not a "staple" food in Canada.
What do Canadians eat? McDonalds, KFC, etc?
Canadians eat what Americans do - and no we dont call it "Canadian bacon". Canadians in BC eat a lot more veggies and healthier food - you wont see pork chops etc on breakfast menus in BC. Well maybe at a truck stop?
Canadian cultures varies from Pronvince to Province.
But dont worry no one is going to try and feed you blubber or bear stew -
Canada is amazingly civilized, you cant even tell you crossed the border - until you notice people in cars passing you taking a look at you as the go by -- and when you ask how far it is to somewhere you will probably be told it's about 4 hours not the distance. |

well, I never heard of poutine before I married a Canadian.
An intersting fact is that Canada consumes more macoroni and chesse (Kraft dinner) than any other country. |

I was born and raised in canada.
I have not heard of most of what was mentioned as being "canadian food".
We eat what americans eat, really.
Breakfast: eggs, bacon, ham, sausages, toast, cereal, fruit (oranges, bananas, grapefruit), oatmeal....etc.
Lunch: sandwiches (balogna, mayo, mustard, cheese, p&j), or subs, soup, burgers and fries, salads....etc.
Dinner: sausage, pork chops, steak, (deer meat... not all people like it, but some do), seafood, burgers, anything on the barbeque..., potatoes, corn, etc...
snacks: chips, dip, nachos, popcorn, kraft dinner, mr. noodles, freezies, etc...
the "fish & brewis" mentioned above is mostly east coast. (nfld)- i have family there. |

Very similar to American food but Canadians usually tend to eat much healthier than their US counterparts.
Healthier if you stay away from the Poutine that is.

Americans & Canadians basicly eat the same things. There are a couple dishes that are different but it's nothing major. |
