"Canuck" is a slang term for Canadian, it does not relate to any specific ethnic or cultural group these days. I believe that initially it referred to a French Canadian however today it refers to all Canadians. Although some dictionary definitions indicate that it is offensive I do not think that too many up here find it so.
It is also the name of Vancouver, BCs' NHL hockey team ( The Vancouver Canucks) and the name is used by them for many promotional and charitable purposes such as Canuck Place Children's Hospice. |
