What is a english speaking town in Quebec?

According to the latest government study, Montreal is not a predominantly French-speaking town anymore and has now become mostly English-speaking due to the fact that most immigrants chose to speak English as their second language. French usage is decreasing on and AROUND the Island of Montreal, this adding to the already existing English-speaking community (Westmount and West Island).
Therefore, Montreal is where you'll find the largest number of Anglo-Quebecers, followed by the Eastern Townships (2 hours south of Montreal), the Gatineau area and parts of Northern Quebec (bordered by Ontario), Quebec City (around 25.000) and the Gaspé Peninsula.

The fact is, you'll find English-speaking towns all over Quebec, but predominantly in the Greater Montreal Area and anywhere southeast bordering Ontario.

St. Paul, also known as Riviere St. Paul is English speaking.

mostly Montreal.

Most towns in Quebec have people who can speak both English and French Canadian, you'll hear more English in the border towns. All businesses in Quebec do speak English especially hotels.

West and downtown Montreal, Eastern Townships, Gatineau regions; but why not speak French anyway?

There are English speaking neighborhoods within Montreal even though it is a predominantly French speaking town - let's not forget!

That is precisely why you will have no problem finding a job if you only speak French but will encounter various obstacles and countless difficulties if you only speak English.

And for the record, the vast majority of folks do speak French in the Eastern Townships (Cantons De L'Est) - even though it's pretty close to the U.S. border!

Word of unsolicited advice - if you don't like it, cross over to Ontario to the west or the Maritimes to the east at the earliest opportunity!

Good luck!
