Go to The Bay and buy them one of the iconic red, yellow, blue, green striped blankets that they known for.

They and their sister stores may be getting bought out by an american company, but those blankets have been around a long, long time.

Maple syrup.

It's so common here (Canada), but in Ireland they often think of Canada as a country of lumberjacks and so maple syrup "from the vast Canadian wilderness" or whatever is actually a really interesting gift.

Hello
I have to confirm the maple syrup. I'm from the UK and we absolutely adore it here. That's exactly what we think of when we envisage Canada lol and I'm hoping to be buying lots of it when I go there next month.
Have a good trip to Ireland :)

An eskimo soapstone carving of a whale or seal or other form of Canadian natural wildlife

I brought pure maple syrup to friends in Scotland and they loved it so much they were practically drinking it. Get a big bottle from the grocery store - shaped in a maple leaf.

It's like liquid gold to people in the UK.

Please ignore the moronic response of swine flu (NOT funny).

As for the question, in my mind, nothing says "Canada" like a good bottle of maple syrup and a Tim Horton's coffee mug. You can get maple syrup at almost any grocery store but do make it a point to buy it in one of those nice decorative bottles. A can of maple syrup just isn't nice enough. However, if you want to go the Timmy's route, check the link below!

Enjoy Ireland. Wish I were going!!

When we go to Northern Ireland we always bring maple syrup and my relatives go ape over it. Last time I had to bring a couple of bottles one for my cousin and one for her son so that there wouldn't be any fights. LOL

I know it is cliche to take maple syrup for Canadians but I've been told many times over there that Canada makes the best. We always take the President's Choice brand 100% maple syrup in the fancy glass bottle. Wrap it up well and put it in a zip lock bag in your checked baggage. We haven't had any problems yet but why tempt fate.

Good luck on your trip and safe home.

The Winter Olympic 2010 Games are coming to Vancouver next Feb. Get some kind of olympic souvenir for them. I went to Japan a few months ago and my japanese friends really liked the olympic lanyards I gave them.
The best ice wine in the world comes from Germany and CANADA. Since the Irish like to drink get them a bottle of Inskillen icewine or a nice bottle of red or white wine

Maple Creams are delicious! They have white chocolate on the outside and maple syrup on the inside. They sell them in Montreal and probably Toronto and all other cities in any Canadian souvenir shop.

Compared to Canada, I don't think there is anything that would be of value.. lol...
I live in Alberta so I'm aloud to make fun of my own Country ok!

Something that represents nature and beauty might be a good start. We do have a vast landscape so something that represents that might be uplifting.
Maybe a nice framed photo of the two of you on a recent trip to the Mountains? ( or somewhere else beautiful)
