Just got back from Disneyland December 25 to January 3/2007. We stayed at the Anabella Hotel and we liked the conceriage room! We were in room where I could watch the fireworks right from my king-sized bed. We flew non-stop 3 hr flight from Calgary to Los Angeles with WestJet. We booked through their WestJet Vacations. Westjet Vacations offered a 6 day Park Hopper ticket for Disneyland...good deal. Also check Universal Studio's Value City Pass that gets you unlimited into Universal and Sea World. You have to get around yourself though via bus or rent a car as doesn't include transportation. Check with your car insurance here and pay a few extra bucks to cover you for insurance to rent a car in California. If you use the GreyLine Bus system, after a long day at Universal or Sea World, Anabella Hotel seems to be ALWAYS the first hotel they stop at to drop off wearry passengers :) Use the Anaheim Bus System to get to the parks...It only costs $3 a day. You can use the Bus anywhere in Anaheim. In Disneyland, use the Fast-Pass system as much as you can. Bring in Pringles or other snacks and a water bottle...Food is expensive. We bought 4 deluxe hamburgers combos and a salad and cost us $74. USA. So recommend you leaving for lunch then come back. Anabella Hotel has wonderful food, a good continental breakfast was included. Just found it pricey. We found a Dennys just a couple blocks away from our hotel that served good food and cheap too. Make sure your hotel has a fridge and a microwave...We had a fridge but no micro. We purchased sandwiches and other food and stored them for when we got back too late for supper..or were hungry. The dry Noodles in Cups work well for a quick snack. Everything is expensive. Don't forget to shop at the bus station of GreyLine...we picked up some pretty cheap t-shirts (Not disney related which was refreshing). We rented a car and chauffier to give us a private tour of Hollywood. All said and done, 5 hours and $430 bucks later including tips, it was a highlight of our trip. Our driver stopped at the hollywood sign look-out, at the sidewalk of Stars, went down Radayo Drive, Went to Santa Monica to the mall, then to the Pier at the ocean. It was wonderful to have such detailed information about all we were stopping at or driving by. We walked up the street, into the Grand California Hotel and through to Downtown Disney...cut lots of time off our walk to the park. God, wish I had knew all this before we went ;) haha. We spent too much time walking the first 3 days! If you want more information...e-mail me at lillylyn444@yahoo.ca

book a reservation NOW to eat at one of the exclusive restaurants that mickey, pluto, Cinderella, Snow White & Donald visit while you eat. No reservation means you'll be stuck waiting on line to get a hot dog! As for a hotel, you won't find any cheap one's in Orlando. What I do, is drive 20 minutes out of the way and Pay a $100 less, wake up early and drive there.

Pre-Caution - if you're going to stay and watch the fire works, be perpared to wait for the ferry or shuttle for an hour and a half!

We went to California Disneyland a few years ago. First, pick a good hotel, and it should be cheap. It doesn't really matter. Get hopper tickets if you are staying at least a week. Plus, with hopper tickets, you can go to California Disneyland AND the California Adventure Land across. Both of them are very fun. Ride the Roller Coaster, all of them. Disneyland has a section just for kids. Get a map, trust me. Bring some water, hats, some snacks, and a camera. California adventure park has a ferris wheel for good obsevation. Also, there's an Indiana Jones ride. That has a huge line, so the very first day, get gold passes to go through the line quickly (you'll understand when you see the machines). That's a good ride in my opinion, but short. Also take your hat off on the roller coasters (mine got lost).

stay at one of the Disney hotels.

Great question.
"Where to stay" really depends on your preferences. Are you looking for something fancy or a cheap, clean place to sleep. In all reality you spend very little time in your room so why not save a few bucks right?

There is a Super 8 on West Katella Avenue that has fantastic prices, an outdoor pool, free internet, continental breakfast, AMAZING front desk staff, and its only a ten minute walk to Disneyland's main gate. This is likely the cheapest property in the area that is not a dive.

Too bad you live in BC. I make my living running "Southern California bus tours" that depart from Saskatchewan and Alberta. For less than $1,000 per person I provide your room, bus transportation, a three day park hopper to Disneyland, one day at Universal Studios, one day in San Diego at the Zoo and Sea World, and a day at the beach (in the summer).

My busses are always packed because of the great deal. I have actually had people from BC and Ontario fly to Regina to get on my bus.

I use that Super 8 Motel exclusively and it always goes over great. I run my tours in April, July, August, and December. You will never find a better all-inclusive no hassle package anywhere. Check us out at www.barrettbuslines.com

Sorry for the little commercial here, but you asked!

Go with the package plan that includes meals and tickets into the park. It's the only way to go... you'll save a bundle
