Canada is know as the country, who lives with and accepts different nationalities, which i am very proud of.Canada is also known as where Hockey began.Canada is known a s a very friendly place,we would rather be peace keepers;we believe there are other ways to work out problems, then war,and killing. We truelly live in a free country;free health care, free hospitalization............we live in the best coutry in the world. We still have the freedom to pray..............God Bless Canada!! |

Canada is known, among other things as:
The world's Peace Maker...
One of only two countries that have to listen to the rants coming from the US...
The UN's "Best Country to Live in"...many years running...
One of the *only* countries to successfully keep-up friendly relations with both sides during the Cold War...
One of the few countries to (regularily) tell the US to go engage in carnal knowledge of itself and not be bombed...
As the Country most American backpackers claim to be from when backpacking around Europe...
As the country that liberated or helped to liberate large sections of Western Europe... (If you're Canadian, you'll drink free in many bars and pubs through out the Netherlands, parts of Germany, and France.)
Canada is not simply "known" as one thing...It has many identifiers attached to it, some dating to pre-WW era, some to the WW's, and more since. |

Bob had it right.
The most common nickname for Canada is the "The Great White North" even though half the year we are full of green grass, flowers, and lush deciduous forests. The nickname was even used in the movie "Bob & Doug McKenzie's Strange Brew".
The lyrics to our national anthem do say "true north strong and free", but I have never heard a Canadian refer to Canada that way. |

We're known for alot of the things already listed (except, of course, the bad things listed belittling us)
We're known (incorrectly, most of the time, except I occasionally find myself saying it) for saying 'eh'. Most Canadian girls can hold their liquor better than the most lush Australian guy can :)And whoever said we have weird food...I would love to know how you think that. It's not like we eat quail tongues or anything, we eat pretty normal food. |
