What is it like driving in Tronto? |
Other than agressive.
Any other tips?
I had a friend tell me about the street cards and those rules.
Is there anything else? I'm not sure how else to elaborate my question.
A girl at work said she almost freaked while driving on Younge St. lol |

Yonge Street is tough because for the most part, in the downtown core, you can't turn left or right... so once you're on it, you're stuck on it. During rush hour, traffic can be bad, there are street CARS in the downtown area as well, and you have to be aware of those because you can't pass them while they're letting passengers out.
It really depends though, what area you're going to be in - if you're downtown, then it will be busy, lots of traffic, and lots of no turn signs and one way streets. In suburban areas, there's less traffic, no street cars, and you can turn pretty much where you want. |

Rush hour can get crazy because it is bumper to bumper traffic. People want to get home in a hurry and can't.
Otherwise, if you know your way around the city it isn't bad. After I moved down here, I borrowed a car and was surprised by how easy it was to drive. The biggest problem is that outsiders try driving here and don't know their way around.
Don't pass a streetcar when it has stopped. Passengers get off and cross over one lane of the road at some stops. |

Twigz said it. Rush hour sucks, but Montreal is a lot worse. Have you ever driven through Montreal in rush hour? If you have, you can drive anywhere, lol. |

Its o.k. as long as its not rush hour or if something is going on at the stadium. Younge Street is tough but again..you can drive it pretty good during the day. |

It really depends on where YOU are from...
If you are from a big city - you will find it is just a matter of getting used to the roads and directions.
Avoid rush hour traffic by scheduling yourself to traveling before or after it.
AM rush hour starts at 7 am to 9 am...
PM rush hour starts at 4 pm to 7 pm.
If you are from a small town- you will have more difficulty because there are lots of cars on the road here- and lots of signs and bilboards and other things to get your attention.
best advice- give yourself lots of time.
No matter what- your best bet for visiting the downtown core is to take the transit- there are day passes - its a very simple system. Downtown you can walk almost anywhere
Have a good visit! |
