I think you need to talk to people who actually know what they are talking about. Canadians are among the most accepting and friendly people in the world. BC is beautiful. |
|

..No fear.

Oh please! I grew up there, and miss it soooo much. Personally I lived in Saskatchewan, but went to BC once. I was like 6 when i went so I dont remember much. But you have NOTHING to worry about, the people are VERY friendly, and the food is better :) Be sure to try Poutine at A&W. Its a guilty pleasure. But really, if i could move back there I would. I love everything about Canada, besides the HIghways. They kinda suck. And tax is really high, but otherwise, I love it, and you will too! |

Depressing and anti social? Jesus christ. Your info is faulty. We are just like americans, maybe nicer. Bc is the nicest part of canada to live in as well. Beautiful landscape. |

Richmond isn't the most exciting place in the world but does have some pretty good Asian restaurants. However, it's just a short bus ride from downtown Vancouver which has lots going on. March is starting to be spring. Some flowers will be out by then. Looks like you're going, so you might as well be prepared to make the best of it. |

Depressing and antisocial? That is so far from true. Canadians are very friendly. You will find it easy to make friends. The winters are cold, but it won't be very cold in richmond. There is lots of rain there. We like hockey and maple syrup and we say eh a lot
Go Canada! |

depressing/antisocial? i'm from the US, and my BC friends are *way* more friendly and happy on a daily basis than *i* am - and i'm considered by most to be a very upbeat/friendly person! - ok, in my own country, anyway, lol....
also, as far as jobs, crime, traffic, weather, access to doctors, income, air quality, etc. is concerned, according to the yearly list of "Canada's Best Places To Live", Richmond came in at #31 - out of 154 communities! not too shabby. :)

well, if you like the cold weather you will be fine with mother nature, but it also depends in how you interact with others. I mean if you are social or not.
good luck. |

I love Montreal I don't live there but hopefully one day I will or will travel a lot there. I think everyone is extremely friendly and outgoing and it is such a diverse city with so much culture and things to do. sorry don't know much about Richmond BC |

Depressing and anti-social? Where did you get your information?? Trust me, the people in Canada are so friendly. Whenever I go shopping in the US it's a huge culture shock.. no one smiles or greets you or even says excuse me :l |

richmond is practically china town. maybe your friends thought they were anti social because only half of them can speak english (in the north western corner of Richmond island, more then half the signs are in cantonese or whatever language they speak). Greater Vancouver and Canada is really nice overall, and luckily the vast majority of people that migrate to Canada speak english(or french, if you swing that way:). |

Really?! Canadians are known for being some of the nicest and most polite people in the world! I've heard a joke from some American friends that if you punch a Canadian, they'll say "thank-you." I guarantee you that people in Canada will be welcoming and friendly. It's also a beautiful country. Don't worry! You'll love it! |
