Canada is about half again as large as the United States. It extends from the US border northward to within 500 miles of the North Pole. It extends from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic ocean. In short, there is no "typical" Canadian climate. It depends where you are and what time of year you're there. |

Canada has three climates.
Temperate(The majority live in ),
Sub-Arctic,(Very similar to temperate but has shorter Summer and the ground never totally thaws.Only evergreen trees grow in the sub-arctic.)
Arctic.(the Summer lasts weeks and the ground never thaws except for the first few inches .Trees do not grow in the arctic.) |

if this is a question on a school paper...the answer is...there is no such thing as a "typical" Canadian climate. There are too many variables to include.; season, north, south east west coastal, prairies, mountains Gr Lake region, winter, summer, spring fall...in order to describe a "typical" climate, you must give us an area of Canada that you are talking about for starters |

Some places there is no "typical" climate. In Calgary, for instance, the weather can change in a minute. They have an expression often heard in Calgary that 'if you do not like the weather, wait a bit and it will change'. And it usually does.
Calgary, by the way, is right in the path of the Chinook - warm winds from the Pacific and they can change the temperature drastically in a very short time - minutes.
For every rule there is an exception. Like winters are cold - except in Vancouver on the west coast. Your question is too broad for the largest country on the continent. Better narrow it down a tad. |

Average winter and summer high temperatures across Canada vary depending on the location. Winters can be harsh in many regions of the country, particularly in the interior and Prairie provinces which experience a continental climate, where daily average temperatures are near −15 °C (5 °F) but can drop below −40 °C (−40 °F) with severe wind chills. In non-coastal regions, snow can cover the ground almost six months of the year (more in the north). Coastal British Columbia is an exception and enjoys a temperate climate with a mild and rainy winter.
On the east and west coast, average high temperatures are generally in the low 20s °C (70s °F), while between the coasts the average summer high temperature ranges from 25 to 30 °C (75 to 85 °F) with occasional extreme heat in some interior locations exceeding 40 °C (104 °F). |

what time of year? In the summer we average around 25 - 30 degrees celscius, in the winter it completely depends on where you are. In southern Ontario we usually get our coldest day hitting MAYBE -20 degrees celcius, and usually sit around - 5 or 6. In Alberta it can go MUCH lower. So it all depends where you are and what time of year.
If you check weathernetwork.com or weatherchannel.com they should be able to give you an average on different provinces or cities. |

well, just a little colder than the USA and more humid, and occasionally large holes will open up in the ground and release toxic lizards, but thats only in the summer. |
