Does Canada know about the marriage?
If your husband doesn't have a proper visa, he'll only be issued a visitor visa and he'll likely be sent back to Mexico until you get the proper paperwork done.
If you are driving from Mexico to B.C., I wouldn't worry too much about which border crossing I'm going to take. The rules are the same no matter which one you use. Drive the shortest route possible and have copies of your marriage certificate, passports etc when you cross. |

I am assuming you are a Canadian Citizen. If your childwas born outside of Canada and his/her birth is not already registered with the Canadian authorities, you need to do this in order to assure your child has documentation as to his/her Canadian Citizenship. You can do this at any Canadian Consulate; or with Service Canada when you return to Canada.
Your husband needs to apply for a visitor visa in order to enter Canada with you to live. This may be able to be done at the port of entry (border crossing), but since you have time now, I would recommend applying from the Immigration website in advance. You can then apply for immigration for him, with you as his sponsor, from within Canada. Or, you can start the whole process while you are outside Canada and wait until his permanent residence status is granted to move back to Canada.
In any case, there ARE mounds of paperwork, months, if not years, of processing time, and up to $1,500 in fees and other application costs involved. As far as border crossings, make sure the one you use has an immigration office, not all do. It might be best to use one of the major crossings, such as Peace Arch in B.C.

You should contact Canadda Immigration first. Why go to the trouble of coming up without information first. Go online, there is a good website with tuns of info. You can get all the forms you need.
If you are bringing hubby and child for the first time you may have to sponsor hubby. Loads of paper work but not a big deal in the end.
Best to check first. This is what I had to do with my hubby.
Good luck! |

Contact American or Canadian Customs offices for info. I if you have proper documentation I don't see why you should have any problems.
When crossing the border you will be expected to show proper identification. That is why I suggest you contact the two custom offices for further info. |

Are you a canadian citizen, is you child a canadian citizen, does your husband have a criminal record, this is important info in order to answer the question |

You said you´re originally from British Columbia so you are Canadian citizen therefore it´s not a big problem if you work the necessary papers for your husband. Better go back to Canada peacefully than trying to ..... Every border is guarded every passenger need to show their passports whether you travel by car, bus, train or airplane. If your husband is not Canadian get a visa better than smuggling. |

I assume you mean which ones dont have three and four hour waits to cross? Google the border crossings and see, check on the day you leave. |

How soon will you be entering into Canada? If it is after the deadline for Passports for those travelling by land then You will need one for both you and your husband. The baby I am not so sure about it may only be the birth certificate and a letter from the father saying that he agrees to the child entering into Canada.
As for the best boarder crossing; that depends on where you live. If you are close to Ontario than I would suggest either the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor or the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. As for elsewhere I am not sure.
Good luck with everything.

He's from Mexico & you don't want any problems.
Does that mean you are trying to smuggle him in or does that mean that you are afraid that the Canadians will shake him down because he is a brown person.
I can assure the latter is not true.
If you are smuggling him into canada I would say have him walk the boarder don't drive. Just pick him up on the other side. They are very strict about papers right now. So if he doesn't have then he might be detained or even deported.

My friend Raul swam the Grande in 49 seconds flat! I watched and timed his wet back the rest of the way. Fence clippers in hand he had crossed the boarder in record time. |
