I will be staying in Vancouver for 4 days and was thinking of going to Whistler to ski. What is the best way to get there from Downtown?

Helicopter. No, really, because of the Olympics, construction on the way to Whistler is horrendous.

Take Georgia St. West through Stanley Park, Over the Lions Gate Bridge, then Highway 90 to Whistler.

Perimeter Buslines has their Whistler ExpressBus with 11 daily departures from each end starting in Vancouver at the International Airport (stops downtown on the way as well).

Their toll free number is 1-877-317-7788 or you can email them at:
res@perimeterbus.com

Rate is $67 CDN each way. (10% discount for group of 4 or 5; 20% off for a group of 6 or more--just meet people in the ticket line and say you're all a group).

Bus would be more convinient. Car is nice too so you can see the beautiful mountainous scenery on the way. It's about 2 hours away from Downtown Vancouver.

Best way is to hop a bus. There are direct buses that go from the downtown area to Whistler. Much easier than driving and no parking hassles.

Go across Lions Gate Bridge, get on to the #1 highway and then go on to the sea to sky highway. It leads you right to Whistler.
