What is the biggest Newfoundland stereotype?

Show all answers

Lady Luck
That they are backwards.

RenTech
This women walks into the store yesterday and she asked me
'In what aisle, could I find good old Newfoundland cod fish?'
so I ask her, 'Are you a Newfoundlander?'
The lady (clearly offended) says, 'Well, yes I am. But let me ask you something.
If I had asked for Italian sausage, would you ask me if I was Italian? If I had asked for Polish sausage, would ask me if I was Polish?
Or if I had asked for German bratwurst, would you ask me if I was German?
Or if I asked for a kosher hot dog, would you ask me if I was Jewish?
Or if I had asked for a taco, would you ask if I was Mexican?
Would you? Would you?
I say , 'Well, no!''
If I asked for some Irish whiskey, would you ask if I was Irish?'
Well, I probably wouldn't!' I said
With deep self-righteous indignation, the lady says,
Well then, why did you ask me if I'm a Newfoundlander
when I asked for Newfoundland cod fish?'
I reply nicely, 'Because you're at Home Depot.'

Biggest stereotype is that they're dumb.
*I* don't think they're dumb, at least not the ones I've met (never been there). My dad lived there for a while and did meet one person (a barmaid) whom he called "one-oar", as in, not rowing with both in the water.
