In certain places, you may be allowed to use US Dollars, but I wouldn't suggest you depend on this situation, as it doesn't happen too often. Trade your money in at the airport or wherever there is a currency exchange booth. Remember to get a good deal when exchanging money. Look for post offices. They give you the best deal when exchanging money. Canadian Dollars are used in all of Canada. Use a credit card as often as possible. It is the easiest way to use your money in Canada. |

The monetary system in Canada is dollars and cents same as in the USA. The US dollar is worth about $1.10 Canadian right now but this fluctuates slightly from day to day. Most places do accept U.S. dollars but don't always give fair exchange rate. To simplify things you can exchange U.S. dollars for Canadian dollars at most international airports, and most land border crossings. Once in Canada most banks will also exchange dollars at the going rate. Or you can use your ATM card in any of the million or so ATM that seem to be everywhere. They will vend Canadian cash and your account will be charged the going rate. Also all major credit cards are accepted here. Welcome to Canada. I hope you have a real great time. |

they use canadian dollars. and you can use u.s. dollars, they do something clever and the cashier thing converts your change into canadian dollars. make sure you change it back before you go back to the u.s. tho. travler's cheques are a good idea, a credit card is better if you have one. |

I wouldn't count on everywhere taking your US dollars. I just got back from TO and wound up using my credit card a lot more than I had expected, due to my not exchanging enough money. If you're driving in though, you can stop right at the duty free store at the border and they'll change your money for you with a pretty good exchange rate. |
