What is the most economical way to get from McMaster University to University of Waterloo without a car? |
As the title says, I am planning on visiting Waterloo some time during the weekend, but $34+tax for a round trip (Coach Canada) is a bit too costly (I am going with a few other friends), and I don't have a car. What would be the cheapest way to get there without excessive travelling time? I might be making more of these trips in the future so cost is very important to me (and to some degree, travelling time). I wouldn't mind transferring busses if it's not too much hassle. Thanks!!! Additional Details I have never taken the Greyhound but their website suggests it'd be somewhere between 7 hours and 28 hours to get from McMaster to Waterloo or back, with the ticket at $87.50/person. I guess they don't have a direct route.
Are there any public transit systems that go between cities? I know that in Vancouver, it's possible to take public transit between pretty much every city in the Greater Vancouver Area, as long as you know what you're doing, for a few dollars a ticket (or a month pass for $40-60) |

I can help you out with this one. Take Coach Canada and search Hamilton and either Waterloo or Kitchener.
From Mac to UW: about 15 dollars
Route 328 on Friday 2:25pm - 3:40pm
Route 338 on Sunday 9:10pm - 10:35pm (to Laurier down the street)
From Mac to Kitchener the busses run constantantly and then UW is just one GRT city bus ride away. |

Yeah, Coach Canada is a ***** from Hamilton to Waterloo, cause they stop so much...I believe Greyhound also services, and it's a little less time and money.
Alot of schools have posting; askin gif people want to join in a car trip....check out these postings...when I was at WLU they had them. |

With gas prices at $1.20 a litre (which is appalling, and we Canadians better do something about it), perhaps walking would be most economical. |

if you are a UWaterloo student there is a service called Fedbus offered by the federation of Students at UW. You can only use it if you have a watcard though. |

McMaster has a rideshare program....I think it''s still on the MSU website, only I'm not sure how active it is. You might look through facebook groups as well for carpool groups. |

Go to Craigslist.org and put and add for rideshare. Who knows maybe someone is also driving between the two places and wouldn't mind the company. Be Safe though. |
