What is the nicest neighborhood to live in Vancouver, Canada?

Don't mistake all of the East Side for the "Downtown East Side" (East Hastings) A lot of the East Side is fun and funky and the rents are much cheaper than the West Side (Kits, UBC) and Downtown (Went End, English Bay)

Commercial Drive and Main Street both have some pretty cool neighbourhoods...

Well since I live in Vancouver the BEST place to live is near UBC. Although do AVOID living near East Hastings (down town) cause don't be fooled by the nice looks during the day time, night time is the WORST time of the day. Druggies come out, poor people are ALL over the place unfourchanlty, ALOT of bad things happen at night near down town.

Shaughnessy : if you are rich and love big homes with out ocean view
UBC: 1) if you are student
2) if you are rich and love home with view
Kitsilano : if you have a good income and you are young
English Bay: if you are gay
Coal Harbour: If you have a good income and love to be in city and looking for a nice apt with or without view
West Van: if you are very rich
.....

almost every where in Vancouver is good but Est Hestings... do not go there

If you are young (20 to 39), Kitsilano.

If you have money, Point Grey or near the University.

If you like the rain, West Vancouver.

Everything else is fine, but typical. Avoid Vancouver East.
