What is the night life / social life / city life in Toronto like?

I am a single 24 yr old Australian thinking of moving to Canada, or at least work there for a while. I love cities and have travelled a lot. I'm an accountant but I love going out, drinking, dancing, shopping. Looking forward to the cold weather. What are the guys like in Toronto? Is there a corporate life style or is it all pretty cas? Can you live in the city?

SM is flat-out lying to you. Toronto gets HOTTER than Vancouver and only gets snow average 3 months a year (dec-feb)

Toronto is an amazing city. Not only do you get the big city atmosphere, but it's very clean and has a low crime rate for city-standards. The nightlife is fantastic. The people are generally friendly. Canadian cities are known for its attractive people, so you don't need to worry about that issue.

You being an accountant also works very well to your advantage as Toronto is Canada's financial district. It's a "corporate" lifestyle around the financial district, and more casual in other areas.

Canadians and Australians are known as "sister" countries, so the transition for you will be seamless.

Welcome!

Move to Toronto, the night life is amazing, compariable to any major city, great cultural centre, very multicultural. It's a great city, other Canadian cities are great too! Especially Montreal and Vancouver, but Toronto is nice!

SM is incorrect. Although much a beautiful city very vibrant in its own way with tremendous outdoor activities Vancouver is noted for a comparative lack of performing arts (to most great cities) and clubs. Perhaps this will change with the Olympics coming and further self-assessment of entertainment breadth inferiority to the Pacific Coast cities - Seattle and San Francisco - to the south. Also, Vancouver usually does not get too cold or snowy (this past December and early January being a once a decade exception!!). As for Toronto, it is Canada's corporate and business capital but it is also currently the most multi-cultural city on earth. Further it is North America's movie-making centre after Los Angeles, the performing arts centre after New York City. But for sheer extensiveness of evening fun activities, places to go, and
abandonment to fun, angie13_s is quite correct: nothing in Canada surpasses Montreal.

i don't know what that person is talking about...we really only have like 2 months of actual winter (like, real cold and snow - january and february) here. then 2-4 months of beautiful summer weather (june, july, august, september). the rest is somewhere in between.

vancouver is great too. they're both great cities really.

the nightlife is really varied here...you've got places for rich corporate types, places for drunk suburban teens, places for twenty something hipsters, places for indie/punk kids...pretty much any scene that you are into, you can find a community here.

Australians do pretty well, but that's probably because they're in the same boat. Toronto is loud and schizphrenic, alot of diseases.

Corporate life is there, but never really adult because the city doesn't allow them to become what is needed for business leaders. Yes, you can live in the city and it's pretty walkable.

The problem with toronto is that all the are closed by 1-2 am. Go to Montreal, you can party there till at least 3am and then move on to after hours clubs that open at 3am and go on till like 9am...it's crazy!!

Forget Toronto. Live in Vancouver.
It's Hollywood North, the nightlife is the best there is in Canada and the job market isn't too shabby either.
Take it from me, you get two months of good weather in Toronto where you can actually go out and then ten months of snow where the last thing you want to do is fight your way to a nightclub through the three feet of snow outside your door.
Vancouver is the one of the best places in the world to live. You can live in the city but you're half an hour away from plain lands on the east, half an hour away from the water on the west, and half an hour away from the mountains to the north. And you get guys from all over the world, skinny, thick, built, black, brown, white, Italian, Asian, everything.
