expensive housing costs , homelessness

Housing costs. I've been living here for 6.5 years, and now my husband and I are finally in a position to think about buying a house - BUT THERE'S NO WAY IN H*LL WE CAN BUY ONE HERE. In just 4 years the housing costs have more than doubled. It's depressing. We're planning to leave in a few months - we don't want to rent forever.

To put it in perspective, the traffic isn't enough to make me leave. The crime isn't enough to make me leave. The weather isn't enough to make me leave.

The exorbitant housing costs ARE enough to make me leave.

crime in the east end but crime is in every big city

The cost of living. The rain (eight months of darkness and drearyness). The snobby people who think it's LA. Everyone who has a house is growing dope in their basement. The whole 2010 Olympics fiasco.

I'm never moving back.

We have to pick just one?
-the cost. It's expensive here. VERY expensive. Gas prices are among the highest in Canada, and housing costs (to buy and to rent) are outrageous.

-the crime. Pick up any ol' newspaper and there will be articles on the latest drug-violence, gang-shooting, etc Drug houses and grow-ops are infiltrating family neighbourhoods (not just in Whalley anymore).

-The lact of snow. Ok.. hate me. But I like snow. <grin>

-The government. Again, this is a very subjective, but I detest the fact that so many of our essential services are going without while the Premier is pouring money into the Olympics.
