Whistler is very beautiful, but it's also very expensive. I do recommend going, but keep in mind that it's a tourist town. Most of the activities are geared for the wealthy tourists or outdoor enthusiasts. There are some nice trails for hiking or biking. There are golf courses if you are into that. There are overpriced shops to go shopping at, and plenty of expensive restaurants and pubs to visits as well.

If you are into photography, Whistler offers a lot of opportunities for gorgeous pictures. There are plenty of black bears who annoy the locals by visiting the townside regularly. The mountains are stunning.

I went to Whistler a couple months ago, and there is plenty of shopping there. Also, you can take the gondola up the mountain just for fun...and mountain bikers liked to ride their bikes down the slopes.

It depends on the time of year you go. I go in the summer and there are a number of activities you can get involved in such as:

Hiking
Fishing
Canoeing
Mountain Biking
Golf
Swimming
White Water Rafting
Back Country Adventures
Kayaking
Gondola Rides - great for higher elevation hiking, sightseeing, mountain biking or just for the heck of it.

Of course there is always sightseeing, shopping and a variety of clubs and restaurants available in the Main Village and other locations.

Mountain biking in Whistler is pretty close to the best thing in the world.
