What is there to do in Winnipeg?

My mom decided that on August 6th till August 16th, We should go to Winnipeg to see HER friends, so, pretty much, I'm going to be bored out of my mind, I was wondering, I'm 14 years old, and maybe there's an arcade or SOMETHING to do for someone my age?
Additional Details
Some things to add...
1.I Live in B.C., Canada
2. I am planning on going to places like...The Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature, The Forks, the Planitarium, the forks, and the Zoo.
3. I want something like an arcade or something to take some time off being bored when I'm not at interesting places like the ones above.

Winnipeg has a football team and will have home games on the 8th and 14th. I'm pretty sure you could find tickets.

There are also various summer festivals going on but you'll have to figure out when and where they are.

Finally when you get there hit the tourist center... they will have everything possible to do in Winnipeg listed somewhere...

Good luck and have fun. Every situation is only what you make of it... if you decide you are going to be happy and have fun you will... if you decide to be miserable and cranky, then you and everyone around you will be...

Contrary to a previous poster, Winnipeg has a little less than 700,000, so close to a a million but not quite. LOL I would definitely check out the Forks, as previous answers have stated. As for arcades, there isnt much around town anymore aside from a few games at the Silver City Movie Theatres at Polo Park and St Vital shopping centers. Both are easily accessible by bus if you dont have a ride. If your mom is willing to go for a little ride, there is (or at least to be) a decent little arcade in Winnipeg Beach, about 45 minutes north of the city.

Some other attractions that someone your age might enjoy are the Zoo, the Manitoba Museum if you are interested in history, and the Planitarium (located in the basement of the Manitoba Museum). I am sure there will also be a fair or two on in town while you are here, as they are quite common around town on the weekends. If you are into airplanes at all there is also the Western Canadian Aviation Museum near the airport, or the Electric Museum is kind of kewl for younger people such as yourself.

Winnipeg used to have a few awesome arcades but unfortunately the last one closed just a short time ago and I dont think there are any more here.

I'm a little worried about you, kiddo, if your idea of doing something is an arcade.
I presume you do not live in Manitoba or even in Canada. Hey, you're going to a foreign country, to the biggest and oldest city on the prairies. There are lots of things to see and do if you're not brain dead.
Assiniboine Park and Zoo -free
Museum of Man and Nature: easy to spend a day just looking around
Hudson Bay Store: hey, a department store that has been around for a couple hundred years?
Lower Fort Garry: the oldest stone fur trading post still intact in North America.
Jazz at the Winnipeg Art Gallery through the summer.
The Forks: restaurants, shops, exhibits, music, etc.

There is an International Festival (Folklorama) August 3-16

W lived there for seven years and always love to go back..

Here are a few things and places that I thought were fun when I was your age... but that was a few years back now, not sure if times have changed though.

Wheelies Family Roller Centres www.wheeliesrollerrink.com

The Forks (There is a skate park there, sometimes live music, shops, dining, children's museum... you may feel like you are to old for that but it is still fun)

Plenty of movie theaters

Birds Hill park (It is a little out of town, 10 min. north of Winnipeg. You can walk paths, swim and camp)

Assiniboine Park Zoo www.winnipeg.ca/cms/ape/zoo

Royal Canadian Mint (you can take a tour of the mint, very neat )

The Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature www.manitobamuseum.ca

I do hope you will like it here, there are a lot of things to go here, if you do go to The Forks go to the Explore Manitoba shop and grab flyer's and maps of Winnipeg that may give you things to do while you are here.

Just outside Winnipeg, there are few small beaches, Birds Hill park and Oasis. There's a great beach an hour outside Winnipeg called Grand Beach - get your mom and her friends to bring you there. Falcon Lake is another nice area, nice beach, about an hour and a half from Winnpeg. The zoo is nice too. If you like water parks, there's Fun Mountain. However although it's fun, it's not huge. The Forks is also nice. There's shops and restaurants and it's fun for people watching.

Alexis
Hi Reilly,
Winnipeg is a very large city with over one million people. I'm sure there is plenty for a 14 year old to do.
