What job should I aim for if I want to live and work in Canada?

I want to move to Canada within the next few years (after I finish my degree in the UK). I am just unsure what job I should be focusing on. I am doing a degree in Health and Social Welfare (BSc) and am interested in anything that involves working with the public. I don't want a mundane job that may indeed fetch rent money and food and daily expenses...but I want something I enjoy doing as well as having a lot of prospects open to me (such as promotion). I was thinking about teaching, but I would ideally like to go into something that requires no further study after my degree. Something in health would definitely be top of my list (such as elderly rights, or housing or voluntary services). Thanks for your time :)

From what you say then I think you have already decided the broad spectrum of employment. There really is no difference in broad terms between work in the social health field in the UK and in Canada though specific jobs between the two are going to vary in their requirements and possibilities. Just get your foot in the door as you would in the UK and start from there. You will be better placed to make more specific decisions once you have a bit of experience in any social health field in your chosen country. Good luck

I wouldnt go for teaching if I were you, I live in Ontario and it is nearly impossible for people to get teaching jobs here because its not in high demand. My sister is a teacher and she really struggled getting into a school, because no schools are ever hiring. If you want to do something in health, why not work at our hospitals. Theres good pay at the nursing homes here as well.

You will find it easier to be accepted for Canada if you have work experience in your own country.
