Soccer is played a lot in schools. While professional soccer is not very popular here, soccer is one of the most popular sports at the amature level (it actually has the most registered players of any sport in the country). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer_in_Canada

While we play hockey a lot, not a lot of schools have an ice rink, and the gear can be pretty expensive... so at school you're more likely to see floor hockey played. You'll also probably see basketball, volleyball, baseball, football, rugby, field hockey, lacrosse, badminton, etc. as sports rotated through the seasons in the school programs. Most schools will have intramural or competitive teams in most of those sports as well.

I live in Canada, and pretty much, you can play any sport you want to! I'm in highschool now, but in my elementary school also, there are tons of opportunities. If you look at the facts, Canada's national sport is "lacrosse" and people do play it (there are even teams at school for it) but it isn't really the most popular. As with hockey, people watch it a LOT, and they play it, but it's not the only thing. I'm not sure which part of Canada you are moving to, or even which province I'm sure that you'll love it :). I moved here a few years ago and already feel at home. There's lots of sports to choose from at school: (these are only a few) football, soccer, swimming, hockey, tennis, lacrosse, volleyball...a lot more :). There's also soccer teams that you can play for the city that you live in. The city also organizes soccer days sometimes (again, I'm not sure where you are moving to). Anyways, I hope you like Canada and have a great move! Don't worry about the soccer, tons of people love it here too! :) Good Luck with your move! Welcome to Canada!

For either high school or College, it would be Basketball, Football and Soccer.

Ironically enough, hockey isn't all that popular to play in school...At least when I was going I found that.

The best way to meet other soccer players will be to call the local soccer club (that's amateur in Canada) when you arrive and ask if any teams still have spots for the summer.

There's usually indoor soccer in the winter. Different sort of game but still good.

all sports are popular here.

Basketball, volleyball, soccer, and hockey. Football is popular in schools too but some districts are starting to ban it. Soccer is defiently one of the big ones though.

Andy
I am going to have to take a stab at it and say hockey (being stereotypical)
