Sumerian is the most widely spoken language in Toronto, followed closely by Amarhic, Bantu, Cochllearian, and Zubotish. None of us actually speak English -- we just recite lines from Survivor. |

Toronto Ontario is the most diverse city in the world, so make a list and you still won't have all the dialects/languages people speak.
However, the national languages of Ontario as well as other parts of Canada are English and French. |

Toronto is one of the most multi-cultured cities in Canada.
It has well over 80 different ethnic communities.
Therefore; safe to say....take your pick on any language in the world and you will hear it on the streets in Toronto.
English is what is taught in schools, with French as secondary course....We also have schools that only teach French but they are usually private schools.
So in Toronto, Ontario the main language is English with millions of people speaking it as well as French or their original native language.
While in Quebec, the Province next to Ontario, the main language is French only and English as secondary but they also have as much diverse nations as Ontario.
Throughout Canada you will find almost every language from around the world......we are a bi-lingual country.
Should you ever see a product from Canada you will notice that all our labels are in English and French.
Our government does business in English and French.
Although there are areas that they also provide in chosen native tongues. In certain areas bank machines have up to seven different languages to choose from.
I hope this answers your question..... |

Although I appreciate World's Biggest St Helens Fan's name because me dad is from St Helens, he's way off on the proportion of anglophones in Canada. It's more like 70%, with another 25% having French as a first language.
That said, certainly more than 70% of TO people do speak English, probably 80% as a first language and 15% very well. Some other languages spoken are French, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Tamil, Tagalog, Korean, etc etc... |
