I visited Vancouver at the end of May 2007. I visited Stanley Park and it was really beautiful. I strongly recommend Stanley Park. It's a great place to have a picnic, see wild life, and get fresh air. The scenery is also magnificent as the look across the river at the city.

I'm originally from Vancouver, but I haven't lived there for years. In our recent visits, my wife and I enjoyed Chinese food in the hole-in-the-wall places around Pender and Main, and also Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Garden for a taste of Asia.
Other people have already covered the other good places and neat things to do.

Not a Vancouver resident but was once a tourist going to Vancouver.
So.....as a first timer in Vancouver, I LOVED and never forgot just the long stroll and scenic view by Coal Harbour.
Lookout Tower also offers a 360 degree view of the city.
Don't forget Stanley Park and the Van Dusen Garden.
Hope this helps.

It's always enjoyable to take the ferry to Nanaimo and wait for Diana Krall and Elvis Costello to show up. But there I go again, name dropping.
