What to wear in Canada?

Im going on a trip to Quebec and Montreal, around January and February. I need some tips on what to wear. It is apparently very cold so I need a way to look nice without dressing like an idiot in another country! Thanks!

If you are coming to work and you will not be outdoors for long periods, a longish down filled coat with cute, matching hat, gloves & scarf with boots. Boots have to be water proof, treated to resist salt and, trust me, the flatter the better with good treads. There is often ice under a dusting of snow and snowbanks to climb over. Heeled fashion boots are not very practical.

If you will be outside for longer periods you will want pants. I use cheap nylon pants for playing out with the kids and I can vary what's underneath depending on the temperature and how long I'll be outside.

they dress like we do in the US, so what you normaly wear. just warmer.

*shrugs* normal stuff is just fine around there but considering it'll be january and feburary be sure to pack a good ski jacket, a toque, scarf, gloves and you probably should wear leggings or something underneath your jeans. Oh, and uggs are really popular right now.

why me?
warm jackets
toque
wool socks
snow boots

Check the weather forecast closer to the time you plan to leave. Usually, the weather is cold, but dry, so a warm coat, scarf, toque hat and gloves would work.

I live in Northern Wisconsin, and when I'm trying to stay warm I really don't give a rat's butt about fashion!

Lol here no one cares wut ur wearing, they're all busy in covering theirselves bcuz its reallllly cold. Hmmm.. just buy a nice fashionable jacket n high heel boots (u know the one in fashion). Something sophisticated to wear on ur head n hands...etc.

Oh my . You poor people . I don't want to rub it in but here in Australia its hot enough to wear nothing . I think you should all come here instead. Getting down to the serious question. I doubt you will see any fashion statements in such cold weather unless you are going to somewhere really flash. I've travelled a lot and also recently been to Canada. You want really warm clothes thermal underwear boots not high heels they will be dangerous in ice and snow . A warm jacket the ski jackets are great hat gloves scarf sweaters and warm trousers.

A warm coat/jacket, boots, jeans/sweaters etc.
The normal stuff, to keep warm.

Have you seen the clothes they wear in quebec lol canada is a free country you dress how you like. Everyone has their own style, looks come within, you have to love you before anyone else will so i am sure you look great in anything, go to have fun see all you can. It will be darn cold.

petey
who told u it was cold in Canada in jan & Feb,? they're goofing on u......thats' actually our summer, it's reversed in the US...so u'll need shorts, sandals, oh and bring a hat and lotion for the sun....have fun !

Wear something with fur on it, or a leaf! Canada's flag has a leaf on it!
