Depends on what type of leisure activities/sports you like and what type of budget your working with.
Fireworks @ night in many places are usually a success with everyone...but during the daylight hours it varies according to your tastes/finances.
Ontario place in Toronto is one of my old time favs.

If you could travel to Ottawa you'd be at the biggest bash in the country! If you're staying in Toronto area, I agree Niagara Falls would be my choice. Then in three days you can enjoy the other side's celebrations!

Krissie
On the first, go to Downsview Park for the Canada Day celebration and outdoor concert! =]

Meg S
Ontario Place with my son - later to watch the fireworks...

mamaroo
Try Mississauga... :D

Civic Centre- July 1, 12 to 5 p.m.
Port Credit Village at St. Lawrence park- July 1, 12 to 6 p.m.
Streetsville Cenotaph Square- July 1, 6 to 10:30 p.m. - fireworks!

Have fun and Happy Canada Day!
