It's great... the wilderness is beautiful, our culture is unique, healthcare is all paid for when you need it, if you cant afford medication social assistance pays for it.... people are friendly, the worst crime in my town is teenagers breaking into camps closed for the winter and theft of equipment from loggers. We have so much wildlife and incredible landscapes that we take good care of for future generations. I love my country, and I think it is the best place to live especially when I see what things are like in other countries. I like the fact that I can leave my doors unlocked, take a walk at 2am and worry only about surprising a bear in someones garbage. I like the fact that people dont carry handguns and when I hear a gunshot I know its a hunter shooting partridge or deer not people shooting people. Living in Canada is awesome, there is no place else I would rather live in the entire world.

PS in response to the post about too much gun control, well just look at how many more people die of gunshots in the US compared to here.... I also have a shooting range 5 min from my house but people dont shoot off hand guns and other guns designed for killing people, they shoot rifles, shotguns and compound bows as practice before hunting deer, moose, duck etc. The only people who use the range with handguns are our Police officers who do so as part of thier job. Because of the gun control in my country, I can walk around any part of my town at any time night or day without having to worry about getting shot in a drive-by or for my money. People can leave thier doors unlocked and thier rifles locked away without ever having to be as paranoid as people in other countries.

i like living in canada.. i have never lived anywhere else though.. i think we have it pretty good here.. we dont have to many natural disaters.. at least nothing to horrific as of yet..
we don't have as much crime i don't think.. as other places..

its not too expensive to live.. as i have a fairly good quality of life.. i have everything i need.

i don't think i would want to live anywhere else and what with global warming the winters aren't nearly as bad as they use to be in my part of the country anyways

I guess it really depends where abouts in canada you live. I am in B.C. and it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Shhhh...don't tell anyone. Canada is such a large, culturally diverse country. I feel blessed to be a canadian. I live in the country on an island and it is rugged and beautiful, with lots of wildlife. I hope it stays this way. Canada Rocks!!!!!

It really depends on which part of Canada you're interested in.

In the Maritimes (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and P.E.I.) You'll find allot of smaller communities and fishing towns. I've had some of the best summer vacations and home cooked dinners out that way.

Quebec is in a class by itself (and that's how they like it) It's a beautiful Province (the largest one too) If you're not able to speak French that well - I suggest sticking to the Montreal area. A great city with an amazing variety of things to do. I live here - it's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't recommend living here...

Ontario is friendly and full of history (not that all the other Provinces lack history) You'll find many people from Montreal have moved to the Ottawa or Toronto area.

I can't speak much about the Prairies (Manitoba, Saskatchewan or Alberta) since I have not yet visited them.

British-Columbia is completely different from anything I've ever experienced! It's an amazing place with mild winters (more rain than snow).

We also have to Yukon and the North-West Territories. I've never been but would love to visit... during the short summer months that is!

Canada is a great place to live. I live in the Maritime provinces and I must tell you that you feel so safe here. I don't even lock my doors at night. Crime rates are so low. And Crimes that are committed aren't murder or anything like that. Usually just teens breaking into camps or drinking under age.
It is also very affordable to live here. The cost of living is low. Wages aren't the highest, (depending on the jobs.) but that doesn't matter when housing is so affordable.
In Canada the Health Care is free, ( Paid by taxes) Taxes are reasonable. School Systems are great, Maternity leave is a one year term for mothers. There is unemployment insurance. There are many other reasons why Canada is a wonderful country!!!

Well, it's very cold. We live in our igloos with our large families of 6 or 7 people. We constantly wear our parkas, and yes we ALWAYS say eh? after a question. The snow falls 24-7, but we get used to it, and the only place we can go to warm up is our local Tim Hortons which luckily for me is right beside my igloo. Nahhhh I'm just kidding with you, wich I'm sure you already guessed.

Canada is just like the United States. Like Washington or something like that. There jsut isn't a lot of big cities. We consider Vancouver and Toronto big, but to Americans, they're probably just a moderate size. Yes, in winter it can get a little chilly, and in summer if anyone from the Caribbean come over, yes they freeze and wear their winter jackets, but it's all normal to us. We have pretty good Health Care, and our educations pretty good. We have a fairly low crime and yeah, I like it here. Lots of things have happened here, we just don't have all the famous people, and stuff like that, but we DO have all the cool people. And also yes, our Tim Hortons is very important to us. Where I live (a farming community) we depend on our Timmies. My father goes to Tim Hortons atleast 2 times a day sometimes 4! Yeah, hope I helped!

It is great, it is one of the best countries to live, great landscapes, great quality of life, free healthcare, overall life is cool & peaceful, I'm not sure if the Pet Shop Boys said Go West because of Canada...

Advantages
1.- Good salaries (a little bit lower than in the US) but very low cost of living, good purchasing power
2.- People are friendly
3.- Very safe, I walk at 2 a.m. and I can count my money or whatever and nothing happens!!!

Disadvantages
1.- Some people find it boring, compared to New York City or London, is boring!
2.- It is cold, but that's not really an issue, since all the good countries to live are cold except Australia & Puerto Rico(Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Canada)
3.- Everything is far, to drive from one city to another it takes like 10 hours, also it is very expensive to fly from Montreal to Vancouver

Kind of boring. Don't expect too much. Canadian culture doesn't really exist, it's like the same as the northern US.

I've been through there. Based on the reception I got, I wouldn't recommend it. Why go half way? Go to Europe!
