I live in New York and we need picture ID as well as proof of citizenship such as a copy of your birth certificate or passport. They are getting much more strict here, and will soon require all people entering and leaving Canada to have a passport.

If a citizen of US, Canada, or Mexico and traveling by land or sea BEFORE 31 December 2007 into any of the three member countries, you require:
- - proof of citizenship (which may be passport, birth certificate, and/or naturalization papers)
- - AND photo ID (which may be passport, US or Canada driver's licence, or military ID)

If a citizen of US, Canada, or Mexico and traveling by land or sea AFTER 01 January 2008 into Canada or Mexico, you require:
- - a passport
(Initially, the US was also included in this group. However, delays in passport processing have moved the US requirement date - for entering the US - to June 2008).

If you a citizen of a country OTHER THAN Canada, US, or Mexico, you require a passport. You also require any documentation regarding your permanent residency status (if applicable), and any travel visas required for the country you wish to enter ... based solely on the nation issuing your passport.

All citizens (regardless of country of origin) have been required to have a passport to enter the US, Canada, or Mexico by air since 01 January 2007.

That Atheist chick
I would bring both your drivers license and passport just in case.
