Where's a good place to stay in Vancouver? |
We want to be close to stuff, in a fun area of town with good night life. I'd also appreciate any tips on getting the best deal on accommodations. Additional Details "in a hotel" is funny... sort of, but besides the "dumb ***" answer.... does anyone Real, have any tips? |

We used to like the Hampton Inn and Suites... haven't been there for a few years now - it's right across the street from GM Place and BC Place. Also, we used to stay at the Fairmont Waterfront, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, and the Pan Pacific quite a bit. If you have a CAA card (or AAA) then mention that when you are making a reservation, most chains offer a decent discount with that card. Otherwise, if you think the price is too high, then you say to them "I don't want to buy the place, I only want to borrow a room for a couple of nights." |

I would stay away from most of the backpacker hostels - quite a few of them are infested with bedbugs.
close to clubs and nightlife, you'll want to stay on or around Granville and Robson:
Comfort Inn on Granville - right above a couple of bars
Bosmans' - cheap and dingy, with a super cheesy bar downstairs, its just off the strip so probably good deals
HoJos on Granville St - inexpensive and predictably Howard Johnston
Chateau Granville - they have a great little separate courtyard suite area - ask about that, great for groups!
have fun - and if you are from States - don't forget drinking age here is 19 y.o!! : ) |

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency. Great location. 2 blocks from Robson street. Lots of restaurants, shopping, and bars on Robson. We paid $100 US using Priceline for 3 nights last summer (Aug 05) .
You can walk from the Hyatt to just about anywhere in the downtown area. We walked to Stanley Park and rented bikes one day. The next we walked down and took the water taxi across to Granville Island. Both are highly recommended. enjoy your trip. |

I stayed at the Sutton Place Hotel. The prices were very reasonable compared to other luxury hotels and the rooms were nice, service was good, and a downtown location close to everything. |

Alright I can honestly say downtown Vancouver is very expensive, I've done a lot of research for a hotel there, and the best price and service by far is the "Empire Landmark Hotel" it is the tallest hotel in Downtown Vancouver, it is around $80USD per night, and it is very well located, right at the heart of Vancouver, you will enjoy it like crazy. |

If you want a cheap place in the centre of the city check out the hostels: Hostelling International, Samesun Backpackers Lodge, also I hear The Cambie isn't bad |
