Where NOT to live in Toronto and why?

I'll soon be moving to Toronto and I'd like to know about the city's bad areas - where NOT to live and why such place is bad. We want to keep away from places with higher crime rates, drugs, etc.

I agree with the first posters observation but you might also want to stay clear of Scarborough. There are areas there which are not very nice and also Regent Park which is in the downtown area. Both of these areas are higher crime areas than others in T.O. Its a huge city, you won't have a problem finding a nice comfortable area.

Go onto the Toronto Police site, statistics, and there are a few different charts/stats... look at where the least crimes are commited and then look at the second link that shows you what area is what (by division #, which you can see exactly what area is covered by what division) then you can make your own decision...

At all costs avoid Finch/Jane intersection. Other than that it's pretty much Ok elsewhere. Also refer to my answer to another question of yours.

I don't recommend Jane/Steeles down to Jane/Wilson areas.

A girl was shot on the T.T.C. bus at Jane/Wilson but survived.

Jordan Manners was gunned down in school not far from Jane and Finch and has died. May the "lil bro" rest in peace.

There had been some homicides there over the years.

From my knowledge, my boyfriend of that time was robbed his money in Regent Park area. Avoid some parts of downtown like east of Eaton Centre, re: bedbugs, homeless, drugs.

Avoid some areas in Scarborough, such as Malvern, and so on.

i guess its gotta be the regent park area but you can't escape from crime even if you live in a high end neighbourhood like Rosedale...its all in how you act...keep your nose out of where it don't belong and you'll be just fine...otherwise its just luck i mean heck a stray bullet can hit you in any neighbourhood not just the "bad areas"

dont live by jane and finch becasue theres a lot of crime happeneing there. Downtown is not that bad but its okay not that much crime going on as in jane and finch. missagua (sp) same thing crime. those are a bunch of places that have a lot of crime other than that you can live anywhere u want.

good luck!!!

missbrittneychantel is high

Regent Park is one of the worst, but it's ok
Jane and Finch, yeah it's bad
Driftwood isn't that bad
Malvern is pretty bad
Danzig's fine
Kingston Road!? Do you live in Toronto Kingston Road is huge, i live off it and so do some of my friends, plenty of multi-million dollar house within .5 of a km of Kingston.
Scarborough!? It's huge, some of it again has multi-million dollar home and low crime rate and not much drugs I mean name the parts of Scarborough that's bad!
Etobioke - Has it's good areas and it's bad areas, all together, it's not bad at all.
Cristie Pits is fine
Parkdale is fine

Go to America you b!tch and you'll find out what a "bad" area of a city is
