Where can I map a route, and get the travel time?

For a school project, I am supposed to make a travel presentation for a trip from Vancouver to Halifax, by car or train. The problem is, it says to include a map with my route on it, and little labels at every place along the way saying how long it will take to get there. It seems like a lot of work, so I am wondering if there is any web site I could use to do it for me. Any ideas?

How about Via Rail? http://www.viarail.ca/map-of-canada.html It might make for an interesting presentation. You could include a history of the CPR and google each station or town for interesting attractions nearby. The via rail site lets you type in your destinations and will give you the time it takes to get there etc.

I think the easiest and sharpest way to do it is to buy a map of Canada somewhere (a large one) which you can probably get at any bookstore and then trace out your route with a highlighter or marker. That way everyone will be able to see it easily. Go to the dollar store or someplace and look for some visable/interesting pins or thumbtacks for the specific areas you want to talk about. You'll have to think of how you can display the map in class (with stik-tack or tape etc.) and if you use pins for each stop you'll need a bulletin board behind it. You could also print out photos of the areas you want to discuss. If you decide to go with a car route it will allow you to visit interesting out-of-the-way places, and you can use mapquest directions to find out the best route from town to town and the time it'll take to get there. http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?bCTsettings=1
Good luck!

I promise.
It's great.
I use it ALL of the time.
I just moved to where I am now and don't know where anything is.
Mapquest gives you VERY specific directions,
let's you add stops,
and let's you pick your route from either
quickest distance
or
quickest time.

Try mapquest.com this will help if traveling by car. Check the website of trains that run in the area. Good luck.

I use maps.google.com and use the directions feature. I find that the travel times and distances are accurate within reason, but the route is not always the one you want to take.

I use Yahoo! Maps. Your already on Yahoo! why leave? Plus you get to save your destinations.

Just make sure you specify the country or they'll give you some cornfield in the middle of Iowa or something....
