We are off to Vancouver in October for our honeymoon, my other half is mad about Moose and I would really like to plan a day out where we can see some.

not in vancouver that's for sure. It's a city. you'd have to go quite a ways outside of vancouver to even have a chance, and even then, they like to stick away from roads etc as much as possible. Maybe ask someone when you get to Vancouver, There is no planning for it, if they're there you'll see one if not then you won't. Good luck though. |

Spotting a wild moose in Vancouver is impossible, and near Vancouver is very unlikely. They do have moose at the Vancouver zoo however, along with lots of other wildlife native to the region - not a bad day trip and you are pretty much guaranteed a sighting even though the enclosures are pretty large.

As the others have said Vancouver is not the best place to go moose hunting, there are none there.
If you want a chance to see a moose in the wild, rent a car, head out of the city...any direction other than west...then keep driving, the best roads to see them would be the less travelled, swamps are a good place to wait for a sighting if you have all day, pack a lunch. There is no schedule for these moose to cross any particular road, so it is a guessing game. You could go camping in the mountains, or go to Banff and go on a trail ride. There is no guarantee that you will see one...then again you could see one every day that you in the rurals |

The chance of finding a moose on the street or a park in Vancouver is nil. There may be a moose at the Zoo, about 100 km out of town near the town of Aldergrove (just off Canada 1 close to the US border). Otherwise rent a car (2-3 days driving each way) or fly to someplace in NE BC like Dawson Creek. There may be some moose in eastern BC, but I have spent lots of time there, and even in the back country I have never seen a moose. |

The only moose you will see in Vancouver could be on your plate at one of the restaurants specializing in wild meat. Or on the label of Moosehead beer at a local pub. Extremely rare to spot a moose in the wild let alone anywhere near Vancouver - we did however have a black bear roaming the streets in East Van a couple of weeks ago which was quite amazing. |

Probably not in Vancouver unless they have one at the zoo.
Where are you travelling from? Perhaps you are going through an area where they can be seen sometimes. They are not as easy to find as deer and elk. That is, they do not usually hang out on the road side (Northern Ontario is sometimes an exception judging from the fender benders blamed on moose LOL). |

You'll have to settle for a stuffed animal moose from a souvenir store on Robson Street.
Why don't you guys take the tram up Grouse Mountain and check out the two orphaned bears which were rescued a few years ago, would that suffice instead of a moose?
I agree with another person, skip the Greater Vancouver Zoo. They have a sketchy reputation in regards to the care of their animals and it is a depressing place if you like animals.
Grouse Mtn has all sorts of stuff to do, plus a killer view of the city. There are wild wolfs that howl at the back of the parking lot, they are usually a couple of them around dinnertime. There is a fence around the parking lot which seperates them from coming into the public areas.
There are also deer in the summer and the occasional wild bear. It is an easy drive from Downtown, just don't battle the rush hour traffic between 5-6pm. |

No moose in Vancouver I'm sorry to say. You would have to go north to the interior of the province to view these animals. Anywhere north of Kamloops or east towards the mountains would be a good spot to try but sorry, nothing in or near Vancouver. |

there used to be some moose living here in stanley park, vancouver like a 100 years ago but not anymore.. you will have to travel far outside vancouver.. up north to whistler, prince george or east into the rockies like kamloops, golden or banff.. you'll have to go to those provincial or national parks to find one.. they habitat in valleys, near lakes and rivers.. |

Not here. I've never seen a moose in my life :(
You could possibly find some in Whistler. That's about a two hour drive. |

DONT GO TO THE ZOO! Waste of money, and its a pretty depressing place....If you want to see moose, my advice is to rent a car and keep driving north untill you see one. |
